Hey guys, my bike has the race exhaust and I thought the race ecm. I added a k&n and now you can smell the fuel when I ride, people behind me noticed too and it was a little sweet.

1.) Where do I look to find out if my ECM is stock or the race one?
2.) If it is stock what can I do short of having to spend a few $100 that I don't have right now?
3.) Will it hurt the bike to keep riding it this way?

Thanks in advance.

I'd start by switching back and seeing if the smell goes away.
The ecm is behide the front cowl of your bike. Might be able to see it though the clear plastic windshield....i had an s...so different but that is where the ecm is in your bike. Black box it will say race use only if it's the race one.
Check the do it yourself section...look for a section on tuning and logging. Read it.
Honestly you can make that stock ecm just as good as the race one.....ask if you have questions

1) Under the fairing on a Bolt - Under the seat on a Lightning. Check to see if it says "For Race Use Only" on the ECM.

2) If it's stock, put the stock filter back on until you can flash the Race mapping to your ECM. Might as well swap to DCPR9EIX plugs if you haven't already.

3) Sounds like it's running Rich from the gas smell you said. Either way, start with finding out if you have a Race ECM or not first and swapping plugs if you're due. Do you have ECMSpy?

Well I'm kinda sol cuz I trashed the filter that was in it.

So will it hurt the bike to ride it a little until I can fix it if I don't have the race ecm?

Is there a write up on removing the front fairing or is it pretty simple?

My bike is tuned to run rich and it runs amazing! Supposedly these air cooled bikes run better rich. From the factory they are tuned rich as well.
Max from the Tuniversity brought it to my attention how rich these bikes come.

Well I checked and I do have a race ecm to go along with the exhaust. Also the bike seems to have "fixed" itself, does the race ecm relearn or make adjustments automaticaly?
