hi, ive just fitted a 08' xb12ss (aussie Model) with a remus exhaust and a k&n high flow air filter.. it sounds great but ive read that this will damage my bike without it being tuned?? what is the best option for tuning?

It's strongly recommended when you change the exhaust AND the airfilter to remap your ECM.

Btw, I hope you've got the modified version of the 2008 Remus exhaust.
You can recognize the 'good' version on a plate that has been welded between the fronttriangle support.

did you dealer weld that bracket on himself [confused]

jakkel, this seems to be a different remus than yours (euro ones). it's a '2 in 1 in 2' system...

im not really sure, i just found the one i liked on you tube and got the dealer to buy it.. i had all sorts of trouble getting it.. it took 2 months to get here. it feels pretty strong anyway..

Yeah, it's another one. I've got one with a kat. ;)

Don't worry, I think the one you've got is a good one.

so if i cant get it tuned any time soon will putting the original filter back in help until someone in australia figures out how to tune the 08'model ?? i am 400 kilometers from the nearest buell workshop that even remotely knows what they are doing!! HELP me forum :) ???

Yes for sure take the filter out for now until you can get it tuned. It will learn the muffler alone but the computer won't learn both upgrades.

How did you go with the Buell tuning?
How can you tell what airfilter is in it? I've got a 2006 XB12Ss lightning long with full micron system, but I dont know what air filter in installed. I bought the bike second hand.

It pops and belches a little when cruising or coming to a stop...

Mike: You'll have to check under your inner airbox cover. It's really simple. Find my post on the Page after clicking {Here}Download and Save the Service Manual. In it you'll find how to get to your air filter.

Also, while you've got the inner airbox cover off, you might as well do this mod too: Crankcase Hose Re-route It's well worth it and will take care of some of that popping and "belching". Oh yeah, and you're using High Octane gas right?
