09 is sluggish?

I bought an 09 xb12ss in september and put about 1500 miles on it before it went in the garage for winter. I kept the battery charged and ran it a couple times but i made sure to let it run til it was good an warm before shutting it off. The only mod i have done other than cosmetic stuff is the breather reroute. Now heres my problem: It doesn't feel like it's all there and just seems to have lost its balls. On the streets it runs fine and i don't notice except when leaving from a light; seems like i really have to rev it and feather the clutch. On the freeway i really notice it. I hit about 70 and the thing falls on its face. 5th gear is useless, i have to downshift to 4th or even 3rd to get the thing to get moving. I know the thing will move, i've had it to about 120-mph before the winter but now the thing struggles to hit 80-mph? It has fresh gas in it and it idles fine but just has no guts. Any suggestions? It's going in on tuesday so if there's something I'm missing any help or knowledge would be great

Have you checked your plugs recently? You may have fouled them up running it over the winter.

yeah i had an 09 doing the same thing. fouled plugs

Recommend the NGK or Denso Iridium plugs, real foul-resistant. Also, it is tempting, but let it warm up long enough to gear up and ride, or don't start at all.

If i could've gotten it out of the garage i would have been on it but i had 100 + inches of white stuff by the end of december. How hard is it to change the plugs on these. From what i've read it seems to be a b***h to change the plug in the rear cylinder. What tools are needed and what all is involved/ any tips or tricks? Anyone by chance know the plug # so i can check around tomorrow for them? If i can get the plugs i'll change them and see if that works before i waste the money to have my dealer diagnose it.

NGK Iridium: #DCPR9EIX. Almost no Auto Parts store will stock it, but they can order it. Got mine from O'reilly's cause it was the cheapest.

This thread will help you get to the rear cylinder. I've changed mine twice and it's not too big a deal to me. Fouled Plugs - Removal
