2009 XB12R Firebolt 30k miles, At idle once Hot it will sputter and rev itself to 2000+ rpm then dip below 1000 rpm. Ive checked plugs, wires, and sprayed choke cleaner around intake while running and it didn't bog idle. It doesnt do this all the time either. New parts in last 3000 miles, Plugs, Wires, O2 sensor, and Voltage Regulator. Any help would be appreciated. Ready for a cruiser.......

check iac valve. sounds as if it is not moving/closing propperly, then the ecm tries to force it and is overshooting. record a log, post a link to it.

I believe it is the IAC valve. I've put a bunch a money in this bike recently and will not spend the $177 to get another. Anyone have a "shade tree" fix?

First Welcome to the Forum. These Forums are here just for that reason, Lack of Quality. We are here to help keep you out of the Shop if possible unless someone is just not able to work on their own turning a wrench. This Forum will help you in the future if you like..
Manuals for All Vehicles of any Make is pretty much the normal if you want to save money in this day and Time.. No Shade Tree Fixes for that just the proper parts. Cleaning it while may help just for a bit fix due to it won't last . BTW- check the small things first. Have you Tried to Reset the TPS sensor lately? It is easy to do and costs nothing A Twisting of the Throttle and Key Turn Method..
If you haven't tried that then post up and I or someone here will put it up here for you. Make sure to take some notes! the TPS reset you will need to do it sooner or later for a good idling bike.
When you can and This is important go through this forum to Learn about your bike. It Is Actually cheaper to Own a Buell XB bike. Less to do than the Newer Foreign Bikes. Try Buying a Stator for Say a Sport bike like a Yamaha or CBR Honda NOW that will Floor your Paycheck..I admit I had to replace many of those IAC & the TPS sensors along with Fan control o2 sensors and wheel bearings the list goes on. The Xb model Buells they are not super cheap.to Maintain BUT a Whole lot (less) expensive than ANY other Sport Type Bike..
Remember.H/D does not make a low cost low maintenance bike those days are gone, even for the Cruisers..
I work on many models of Bikes and none are low maintenance anymore.
Customers constantly complaining my so and so Bike never had to have this done, and so on! The older bikes are different! That is another thing.
Especially .when it came to the newer Buell H/D wanted to make some money on them.. It is frustrating to have to put so much money into these bikes.
THERE is a WAY around the dealers FORUMS Check out the list here on the Forum for SOME of the parts you can use Other than buying from the Dealers. If you are an Rider everyday or puts lots of miles on a bike then some Extra Parts for the Buells is most necessary If you bought it used then fix it up and ride.. I have myself gotten ticked off several times over the amounts but know that the Foreign bikes ARE way more expensive in the long run..I Believe the best V Twin bike I own is a Honda RC51 fast as lighting and dependable. HOWEVER I have lots of parts for it was only made for 6 years.
Plus many other makes will fit parts wise. Chin Up Bueller it gets better once you learn your Ride. Good Luck with your choices..*Jimi

To reset the TPS you turn key on with slight pressure in idle position hold 3 seconds then twist to full throttle with slight pressure for 3 seconds then repeat 3 times. Is this correct?

Pretty much, Maybe this will help you..
TPS reset for 2008 thru., 2010 Buells.
1st-Turn on Start/Kill switch.(Guages will Sweep )
2nd-Turn on Key (ignition)switch.DO NOT start the Engine.
3rd-Twist Throttle only Three Times Fully(Wide)open- slightly firm one second then Closed Slightly firm for
one second inbetween each twist of Throttle.
Once done with the Three Twists of your Throttle, TURN off only the KEY Switch.
Now turn the Key Switch right back on and let the Yellow Engine Light OR Cel go off..
Now Start the Engine, let it Idle, for at least 30 seconds untouched. If Bike Stalls then push only the Start Button.
Sometimes the Engine will Grunt like it is hard to start, let off the Button Push it again most times the Engine will start the Second time. After Started and Idled a bit then Twist Throttle slowly up to 2'500 rpms. Let off you should be ready to ride. .Print this or write this down for future use,
Never twist the Throttle trying to Start the Engine .If you slip on Twisting the Throttle then Start Over.
You will need to do this from time to time. on 2008 through 2010 Stock/ or some other Buells. Good Luck. *Jimi

Gauges wont sweep with key off, should be after "2nd". ALso now Stator took a crap so ordered hopefully it will be here by wednesday.

New stator is in, VR seams to still be working. Back to IAC. Has anyone used a non HD/Buell IAC. Was looking at one from the mid 2000s chevy pickup that look close.

New IAC actuator in (from 03 dodge dakota $34 instead of $177) fixed 75% of sputter but will still do it randomly. Not sure what else to do. Taking it on a long ride today to see if IAC has to sink with computer.
