have you thought about send the stator to custom rewind for them to rebuild it?

5500 miles and my buell had the same problem i removed the stator and had it rewind and have had no problems since its a very easy job to remove and refit and should only take an hour,chances are you may need a new battery as you may have fried your old 1,your regulator should be ok as mine was as it is bolted to an aluminum frame which is good for displacing heat
