Does anybody know the top speed? I am looking to trade my 12 r for a 1125r so I will not get passed on the straights by the people I pass in the twisties.

you can't have both ways...

3 kinds of sportbike

1. made for twisties
2. made for straights
3. good in both, but not the best in any category.

i have had mine 135 and still had 5th and 6th gear to go. I think its got 160 in it but i dont have the jewels to try.

Pete, I've had my 1125R up to 145mph and plan on pushing it a little more as my jewels loosen up. I'm 50 and the adrenaline gets flowwing. I've calculated out the rpm to mph ratio and it calculates to 168mph at 10,500 rpms in 6th gear.

ya....im waitin on a video of a couple of guys...one with the 1125r and one with like an r1 or 1000rr to just start at zero and hit top speed. i wana see how that race would go. i know this race would never actually occur on the streets..but id like to see where a buell 1125r stands against a liter bike. i dont trust listed top speeds till someone who has actually done it shows me. id like to think the buell would win ....:( but i doubt it. also...how much slower is the 1125cr's top speed than the "r" ? thanks. just curious.

to porcelainrabbit, i ran with a 2004 r1 when i was doing that 167, he wasnot to far ahead of me then you would think. But to the buells defense, he also has a power commander and aftermarket exhaust. In the twisties in north georgia he cant keep up, and he rides the roads every weekend, I dont.

power commander with exhaust is no guarantee he gain top end power

I've had mine to 161....nothing left at that point. Published "top speed" (radar) is 161. My other bikes are about 30 mph faster, but it all looks the same after 150. I currently have an '08 Kawi ZX-10R, an '08 Honda CBR 1000RR and an '06 Suzuki GSXR 1000. The Japanese liter bikes are nasty fast in comparison to my '09 1125R. That's the fun, though. I have to really RIDE to keep up with my brother on one of my other bikes...The Buell handling is great....I'm really impressed![up]

Do you have to ride as hard as your brother in the twisties? If he is a good rider and is comfy in the higher rev range than the gsxr should pull away but probably not as fun though!

Well, Broncopete, the tighter twisties are less effort on the Buell. The other bikes, especially the ZX-10R have so much raw power that you have to focus a bit more to keep from hurtin' yourself!

I like all my bikes equally well. The twisties show up the various advantages/disadvantages of each bike. Anyone can ride fast in a straight line, so I don't judge 'em on top speeds. I have to work harder on the Buell to keep up with the liter bikes, but that's the fun! (It's not really "work"..it's exercising your skills!) I can really wring out the Buell and feel complete confidence....easy to control and less chance of "over-twisting" the throttle.

100% stock bike...Third Gear at 9500-10000rpms gave me an indicated 130mph +/-. Hit fourth and never looked back at the speedo...was right w/my friend on his ZX10 with a power commander and a full yoshi exhaust.

My 2004 XB12R indicated 143mph, GPS confirmed 138mph. I think that is damn close for any speedometer. (Tires used; Shinko F003RR with stock specs)

i had 150mph at BIR long track & passed all the bikes that used to pass me on me xb9r.
so i sayts worth every penny to upgrade to one.

159 bone stock. still had temp tags on it.
that's fast enuff for me out the box. cuz i don't wanna hang with the 'busa boyZ. but it's nice to know that i could though...
