I have a 09 1125CR and have not touched the suspension since I purchased it from the dealer.

I have noticed that at high speeds on the track (+110MPH) that the front end feels really light and unstable. To date I have not been able to see top end speed because of this. My question is: have others seen this problem? If so, is it likely due to suspension setup, due to the bike's design, or due to my own riding style flaw(s)?

Stevenc150, I have not touched the suspension since I purchased it from the dealer.

I know I have to do that yet but I didn't know if that would solve this completely?

its going to be partly your style and partly the suspension set up.

if you are holding the bars with a death grip then you could be causing issues with the front end. this happens even with a properly set up suspension.

what you want to do is get the bike set up for your weight. take it to a pro if you can and get the static sag set. if the track day provider that you go to has a suspension shop at the track, that would be your best bet. this is the 1st step and the basis to the correct suspension set up.

next will be fine tuning based on your riding habits. the track is perfect for this. im not gonna put all the details down on what you need to change to affect what, but either the place that setup your suspension or your own research will help with that.

lastly, make sure to work on your technique on the bike. work on throttle control, body positioning, keeping light on the bars and locked to the frame with your legs, etc.

it also doesnt hurt to make sure that your steering stem is properly torqued down.

the last thing you might want to do is look into a steering dampener. although if you get everything else above correctly then you shouldnt need this. its more of a bandaid that can mask a deficiency somewhere else.

oh forgot to add make sure your tires are in good condition and properly inflated. you will have to experiment with proper tire pressure based on track temps and your own riding style.

my CR is rock solid at speeds of 130+

On the track, over 100mph........haven't adjusted the suspension...

You are scarry. Or have much larger balls than I have.
ALWAYS, the first thing you should do...adjust the suspension. At least get is sorta close before you start pounding on it.

had same with my 010 1125 cr.i had bike handling sweet with susspention set to my weight etc until i replaced my tyres. i didnt ballance my new rubber. made front end twichy azz. i ballanced them and i had my premo handling back ( it gave me 4 full tank slaps at 100 +) yee ha i stayed upright tho.[cool]

also might be beneficel to see that both fork settings are set up the same as that is also paramount to good handling the 1125 cr is a good stable bike at any speed if you set them up to suit you . I have run mine out to red line in top gear many of times. On the track of course:D and apart from that time with new rubber its been very trust worthy
