1125CR Tank cover fit XB12R?

The shape is a little different, but has anyone tried to install a 1125CR air box/tank cover on a XB12R? Looking for a cheap fix to a little rash....
 
They're the same. The only difference is the older (air box) covers didn't have the vents in the black part near the gas cap.
