1997 Buell S1 Lighting, Black. only 5000 miles.
1203 cc Harley Davidson Engine.
After markets include:
-Forcewinder air intake with k&n air filter (have stock air intake if wanted)
-Force exhaust race pipe(loud, bike will come with stock headers and vance & hines muffler)
Bike is in excellent condition and runs fast. Has a leak in clutch cable that will need to be taken care of before extensive riding.

How does this bike sound and is it a bit pricey for the year? It's really clean looking. Thanks!

sorry their asking $2450. i guess i just need some info on the older buells. pretty reliable? or do they take alot of care?

Slightly less refined as the xb's. So alittle more work but nothing hard. Remember its only a tractor engine. Good price with the miles.

What does that mean, "its only a tractor engine?" Ive heard that before but dont get it...[confused]

That does sound like a good deal though, with the low mileage. Mine also is leaking from the clutch cable, but I havent done anything with it.

When they reviewed Buells that's what they called the motor (tractor motor)

I would recommend the following:
* Works or Penske rear shock. Well worth the money.
* Upgrade the rear motor mounts with the new ones that have 'ears'. Also use the new Torx head bold. the Allen head bolt can interfere with the rubber in the isolator.
* Check the front motor mount for broken bolt heads every ride.
* Check the front and rear motor mount rubber for tearing before each ride.

Enjoy. I have over 70,000 miles on tuber S3s and intend to keep mine. There will always be Sportster parts and mechanics around when needed.

I think that's a good price.

I believe "tractor engine" is a compliment. Tractors will run for ever if you keep oil in them.

On top of what 89rs1200 mentioned things to consider are: updating the primary chain tensioner, oil pump drive gear and clutch grenade plate. I believe by 2001 all these upgrades were done. All these parts are available through ASB and may even still be purchased through HD.

There is also an updated front exhaust hangar which is a good idea.

As far as I am concerned that is a short list for the fun you will have!
