200 rear tire

I read on here by someone that they are running a 200 rear tire. I have a '05 XB12R and would like to try that. From my rough measurements, it looks like if I remove the upper and lower belt gaurds, that will give more latteral clearance. The rear hugger is close with the stock 180 tire, and I'm thinking it will still clear with a 200. Anybody got experience with this? Thanks!

It will clear no issue. My fiance and I run 200mm tires out back. So it works on the older swing arm and newer ones, along with Ss swing arms as well.

Oh and the tire hugger can stay on just the belt guards need to be removed. I don't care for the hugger look so I removed mine, but my fiance has a CF hugger on hers with the 200mm

200/50 r17 = 100mm (swingarm clearance)
190/55 r17 = 104.5 mm (no swingarm clearance)
180/55 r17 = 99mm (swingarm clearance)

i've had 200mm shinko's, tomahawk's, and they fit on my xb9r

Thank you for that good information. So the 50 ratio 200 virtually has the same clearance as the 55 ratio 180....good to know
