Hello all, I am a new owner of a 2002 Buell Blast with 6K on it. I'm a new motorcycle owner as well as this is my first. To me the bike looked great and checked out great and I think I got a pretty good deal on it. The only problem is I hate the color. As a guy I personally don't think I look good riding on a purple bike and would like to change the color. I've seen different suggestions from swap the plastic parts to re-paint them. I'm also looking for the least amount of cash option. If swapping parts where is the best place for a good price(eBay has very little right now)? If painting how can I do it myself and with what kind of paint? Is this even possible with the color all the way through the plastic? Thank you!

cheapest and easiest way to paint buell plastic( this is coming from a pro collision painter with thousands of dollars of fancy materials at his disposal)... use krylon fusion. Its a specialized paint for plastic parts. I'm havent got ne straight answers from a paint rep yet on y it sticks to plastic so well but it does... especially for the cost. so if ur capable remove ur plastic parts.. scuff them with a grey scotch brite and spray. But if its been repainted over the factory raw plastic(which if its purple it might have been) just scuff with a red scoth brite pad and use ne regular enamel or lacquer poof can that suites u just practice on some junk parts first. U'll b able 2 tell the difference between paint and raw plastic if u scuff/sand a small area. plastic wont make much dust or powder as much where as paint will... (white power if it is base-clear purple if some sort of single stage) Hope that helps

Congratulations on your purchase, stay safe, have fun and ride the piss out of your Blast!

Thanks.....fwkapun

Thanks for the info and the offer BuellyBagger! I'd love to take you up on your offer but I know I don't have the cash for that. Any thoughts as to where the best place is to get some decent Buell tank decals since I'll obviously be taking those off to paint?

Well, they might be a lil hard to get but i have seen blast decals online for sale and dealers might still be able to order them. I just took mine off and stuck em on my tool box.Heres a few pics of my paint on my uly.

I'm getting blue powder as I sand. I've go all the purple plastic parts off except for the front fender as it looks like I will have to remove the front wheel in order to get the fender off (which I'm not pleased about). I also could not get the scotch brite pads anywhere so I have the 3m wetdry 3 step sand paper.

That will work for scuffing the plastic. Dont use too heavy a grit 400 at the heaviest. If ur gettin blue powder and the parts r color all the way through u should have raw molded-in-color plastic.
