So last week my XB9r started leaning WAAAAY over...when I inspected I found the pin (name as identified by HD) has sheered in two and the ears on my kickstand arm were bending.

I was unable to find a 2003 Kickstand but I did get a 04-06 kick stand off ebay. The arm is the same the mounts are the same but the pin is not, my old pin had a small 8mm threaded bolt that threaded into the pin itself to hold the kickstand switch, the new one does not h ave this thread and the pin has a small extusion that seems to catch the tension spring when exdended.

I just checked on ebay and I do not see any 04-06 kick stand switches. Can someone give me a pic of one so I can find one? Anyone got one for sale?

thanks
Ned

Not to worry. Discard the switch....as mentioned, they dropped that after 2003. As far as I know, the 'threaded' pin is not available from HD any longer. I COULD be wrong, but so I'm told. I JUST went thru the same thing about a month ago. I wanted to ride, and no one locally had EITHER pin. (Mine originally was like yours as well). I took a 1/2" Grade 8 bolt with a nice shank on it, cut it down to an appropriate length, found the dead center on the head of the bolt. Drilled it for a 1/4"-20 tap, then tapped it. I took a !/4"-20 Grade 8 bolt with a nice shank as well, then cut all but about 3/8 of an inch of threads off of it. This way, I threaded it into the 1/2" bolt (with some Loctite), until it bottomed against the shank part. Then, I cut it off at the shank, leaving the same length of 'pin' as the original provided. (From the bottom of the head of the 1/2" bolt to the end of pin!). Set up on the other end and drilled a thru hole for a nice cotter pin. After drilling the sidestand to accept the 1/"2 bolt, (which is best done in steps with GOOD drill bits....it is HARD material), I put it all together with some grease and a flat washer under the cotter pin and..... walah....my kickstand worked again! My INTENT was to have this 'just get me by' until I bought the 'upgrade/recall kit' from HD. It works so well, I haven't bothered to date! (Although I should do it so I have it in the future!).
