Hello to all. I am in need of correct info. Are the head stock bearings somewhat tightenable to reduce/remove slight movement in the head stock area?

no. They are just straight roller bearings. Replace them with tapered bearings. .

What I found out..I am a mechanic after all and so reason and a little logic I took my bars off...torqued my head stock hex bolt to 42 ft.lbs(as book calls for) and yes it was loose(as all bolts get on these v-twins). Am I wrong?
And yes they are flat bearings(which I sort of prefer).
Thank you for the input.

Did you follow the procedure in the book where you jack the front end and loosen the lower triple pinch bolts first. Tighten the steering head bolt then pinch bolt followed by the lower pinch bolts? If not, redo them.

The stock bearing is not a true flat bearing unless you have aftermarket. Stock is sealed and balls.
