2008 XB 12SCG Lightning seat confusion

I recently picked up an 08 XB12SCG, I am 6' tall and preferred a SS long, however, this bike was way too good of a deal to pass on. My problem is the seat is too low, obviously made for the SCG. My legs are too long and i'm cramped when riding.

Can someone with an urban assault solo post your experience. Seat looks comfy, high, and sticky, as in, not slick. But, the seat also appears narrow, much like a dirtbike seat. I'm looking for the thickest seat available, with no molding for passenger. Just a long straight seat with plenty of padding and wide as well.

The urban assault would probably work if it's not too narrow. I seen a skyline seat #M0090.IAJ advertised for sale that looked perfect, however, when searching other results using that same model #, the seats pictured have a mold in the seat which I dont care for. After numerous searches, I'm at a loss concerning the different model numbers available. The Urban assault will fit a SCG tail right, or is it an SS Long seat? I've got the factory M0076.3AE seat on my SCG which is in excellent condition with approximately 4k miles on it, I'm willing to sale or trade if anyone is interested, I'm located in Marion, Texas 78124.

Unfortunatly the urban assault is just for the ulys or ss. I think the stock s seat would be a good place to start. I have an ss, so im sure someone else can give you a more definitive answer. Congrats on the new bike and welcome to the family.

The urban assault seat will not fit the Scg. It is only for the SS, XT or the TT long versions of the XB.

The skyline is the higher stock seat on a regular XB and it will fit he Scg.

Google "Buell Accessories Catalog" and look through one of the old pdf copies of the seat options to give you an idea.

I'm 5'11" and I too own an SCG. If you bought a Buell thinking they were comfortable you better sell it now.LOL With that being said, I bought a used skyline from ebay and yes it is taller and a bit more easy feeling in the cushion area and taller. I bought the 2"drop pegs from knightdesignllc.com which helped also. Keep in mind though, the lower the peg the faster they drag around corners. Not a worry for me as I don't do track days [up] It is my intentions to have my stock SCG seat rebuilt(foam) and recovered. I would love to order a Corbin,saddleman or baldwin but $400.00+ is way too much for a butt pad when I only ride an hour or so at a time. IMHO the stock SCG seat is only slightly softer than riding a cinder block-

You could get an "S" seat and combine that with Knight Design 2" drop pegs. You could also get a seat with damage, bring it to an upholstery shop and have them make an urban assault seat just how you like - not very expensive generally.

This summer I finally swapped out my Low seat and traded for a Select Gel. Wow, what a difference, you'll feel much better when you get rid of that Low seat [up] You could also post a trade ad like I did if you would rather just swap with someone...

Yes, I bought a Buell for comfort. More comfort than my last bike, which had a huge fuel tank, low clip-ons, and high pegs. I wanted a bike that was comfortable, light, sporty, and if possible, American. This is how i ended up with a lightning. I am comfortable on my bike, just don't dig the molded seat with little to no cushion. I prefer a softer seat which I can sink in and be comfortable, and have the seat "hug" me a bit, so i dont slide easily. If i just wanted comfort, i would pick up a heavy Glide, but I enjoy the twisties every now and then as well as a bike with low maintenance and something different. My current seat forces my junk into the tank which is not fun, guess im thicker in the pelvic area than most. My seat isnt real hard, just isnt real cush. Just hate the mold. I had a corbin on my last bike, hated it, very hard and seams cause pressure points on backside of thighs.

I'm not saying all Corbins suck, just that one. I prefer to save money on the seat by picking up a skyline and selling my low to someone who would enjoy it. I'd rather spend the money doing some other work to the bike than a custom seat, that's just me.

I'll throw up an ad to trade the seat or sell it, Thanks for the info and tips, I'll look into the drop pegs.

the tallest, softest stock seat you can get is #N0025.AJYW (textured, on the left in pic.). the same seat that is not textured is #M0090.1AJ. (the seat on the right is M0090.1AC (textured) for reference. hope this helps.

Joel, Thank you for the information. The seat on the left appears to have a 'smooth" cover and no mold between rider and passenger? If so, That is the seat I want. It is a N0025.AJYW? The seats I find on ebay list that model number but the picture they have indicates a mold in the seat, much like the seat you have pictured on the right.

Dave, I will add 2" drop pegs from Knight design and "high" seat. If this combination works, I may stick with it, If not, I will sale the SCG and find an SS Long. I prefer the longer travel suspension, but also want the swingarm and extended fuel range of the frame. Doesn't make sense to swap a bunch of parts when I can just buy what I really want. I think I will be more than happy with my SCG with a seat swap alone. Thanks for your input guys, If you happen to come across a N0025.AJYW seat, shoot me a PM. I'll be vigilant in my search.
