Hi all

I'm based in the North West of England and have just ordered a XB12Scg in black from the local dealer. I have never owned a Buell or even ridden one before but have admired them for some time. I am rather short at 5' 3" and so it had to be a Scg! However the dealer didn't have one available for me to test ride so I am hoping that my gut feeling and everything I've read about them is right! I currently have a Kawasaki ZZR600 (bought for low seat height of 770mm although it feels shorter than the Scg!). If anyone has owned a ZZR600 previously and wants to tell me how the Buell compares to it I would be very grateful.

Roll on March when I collect my new Buell!

Welcome, and congratulations on the the new bike, I have never road a ZZR so I cant help you their but you will not be disappointed with the Buell. Have fun and stay safe.

Thanks GatorBuell I certainly aim to do so!

I will hopefully add some more postings when I have collected it and got some miles under my belt.

Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the "family". Welcome to one of the best forums out there and look forward to some pics of your new toy. Ride safe.

i dont know about the ZZR, but im 5'7" and on the scg i am on the balls of my feet...heels about 4 inches off the ground. from what i read on here i thought i would pretty much be flat footed...oh well!

eye ball, where abouts in the north west are you? Im in stalybridge.

i had a zzr about 15 odd years ago. Ive now got a lightning long. you will love it. this is the best bike i have ever had by far.
i cant really comment on the height as i am 6' tall.

it is so much fun you will be on it at every opportunity.

new to Buell myself with an 09 XB12Ss, the left side air scoop is for what? Seems to me that it simply directs air between the 2 cylinders for cooling? No intake air thru it?

The air scoop is there, as you said, to direct air to the rear cylinder head to aid in cooling it. Some add right side air scoops, custom fabricated by a few sites & people, that even out the look of the bike and aid in cooling also.

Hi Guys

Well the Buell XB12Scg is now well and truly 'run in' and has had its 1000 miles service. Like you all said - it's absolutely fantastic. I have been out on it at every opportunity and can't believe the way it goes, stops and handles!

I'm not the greatest of riders and the Buell really flatters me! I seem to go round corners far quicker and lower than I have on almost everything (not sure about my Honda RVF 400) I have previously owned. The 'chicken strips' on the tyres seem to be a lot thinner than on an awful lot of Japanese and Italian pure sports bikes that I have observed when parked up. I think that it proves that although the Buell may not be the quickest or most powerful bike on the road, what it does have is totally useable on a daily basis and not something that can only be fully unleashed on the track.

Anyway I just wanted to update you all on the incredible amount of fun I am having!

eyeball I recently purchased a new scg 09 and it is my first buell also. I love mine and i agree with what you said in your thread. This bike is a definite head turner and not your run of the mill jap bike. I hope you have as much fun on it as i do mine.
Welcome and congrats!

Ain't the all black cool as hell ![up]
