AC adapter installation

has anyone done an AC adapter installation? i ride a 09 city x but id assume the installation would be the same for any model, i actually picked up the adapter at wal-mart for five or seven bucks, its just the female ac in like a cig lighter with a spring closed lid and a black and red wire hanging off about 7inches, anybody installed one for emergency phone charge or heated winter ride gear or whatever else, also where on the bike did you set it up and does it mount good, also if theres anybody that has negative things to say lets hear it, im afraid itll drain the battery and does it only charge while the bikes running and so on

Yup I have a Eklipes power port it attaches to a Battery Tender cable that is attached the battery. I used it to charge my GPS. It will only use power if something is being charged, If the wire is just there with nothing plugged into it you are fine.
