active exaust valve

what year did Buell start using exaust valve on the xb12s? and I have been putting royal purple 20/50 in my xb12s but have not used max cycle just the standard stuff should I be worried!

1.) Since it's inception.

2.) As long as it was 20-50 with no fancy stuff in it. Just change earlier.

Swap to Max Cycle next time. It's made for motorcycles and the extra heat from our air-cooled engines - I wouldn't chance it for the small amount of $$$ difference between regular and Max Cycle.

Hey thanks for the info I am new to Buells and just crazy about my xb12scg but have been on rice bikes for 40yrs. still would like to know what year active exhaust started on xb12 thanks redrider

Pretty sure it was in 2003 as this was the first year for the XB series. All replacement XB 12 mufflers will have the active exhaust.
