I thought I post this, but I guess not. I bought a after market under tail off of ebay a month or so ago. I have no idea which one it is, but it looks like

I worked in Aircraft Composites for about 5 years, and my plan is to "use it" to make a mold and then make myself one out of fiberglass. I believe I still have a source for carbon fiber, and if I do, I may try to make a carbon one also. For those that haven't worked with it, it's much less forgiving than fiberglass, so IDK yet.

The jist of the story, is there any interest in a "similar" designed undertail for anyone else??

ASB sells those. I like them but would prefer the stock style tail light, and those stock turn signal "mountains" gone.

You prick!! I knew I'd find who out bid me! :p Asb discontinued this item. So you'd have to order from across the pond to get a similar (somewhat superior) product.

Sorry guys, nature of Ebay. That said, if I do make a mold and build these, I'll give you both one for cost of materials.

I do plan to mod the undertail. I am going to do away "bubbles" where the signals mount. I like the twin tail light look, going to integrate the turnsignals into the tail lights on mine. Also, going to "mold" in a tool tray. The stock tool tray has about a inch of just empty space in front of it. I'm going to make the stops into the under tail and gain some space in the ass end of the bike. It'll probably have to be seen to be under stood.

Good for you firefighter! [up] Best of luck with your venture! These would fit Firebolts and 1125's right? I think if you could somehow integrate LED circuit boards (with indicators) in the tail and include that, they'd sell really well. I may have some contacts that could help with that if you're interested...Let me know!

5.0, I will give you a buzz. I'd planned on led taillight with indeed integrated circuits to make them also the turn flashers(NOTE: This is legal in MY state for motorcycles 04 and backwards, I don't know legalities of your state). I'm currently however, in Afghanistan so it wont happen until after I get home in May. I believe, the 1125R uses a slightly modified version with a seperate piece than mounts in for the tag. That would have to be deleted/modified for 1125Rs.

I believe all of models, IE: S, Ss, ST, SCG, ETC, used a different undertail, and X, and XT still a different one.

On another note, if anyone knows a distributor for fiberglass sheet, reason, mold release, vinyl sheeting etc etc etc. Currently, I'll have to buy the materials at retail. I've got the experiance, not so much the resources.

Oh, on the plus side, had one of you bought it, you'd have bolted it on and been done, at least with me, I'll try and make more of them ;)

That's a "S" under tail, and frankly, the "R" subframe is vastly different. Without requiring people to cut structural parts off the bottom of the subframe, IE the "dip" that supports the passenger seat/turn signal mount, you'd never be able to mount something like that. If that's the look you'd want, I'd suggest just doing a "S" tail swap.

I'm about 10,000 miles from the part at the moment. However, I'll be home by May of next year. I may, or may not make a carbon version. Personally, I love carbon fiber and have a lot of it on my bike. It is however, hard to work with, and it would be very hard for me to match the factory carbon pattern, and finish. Last resin I had left the "silver" part with a gold hugh.
