I received my '06 XB9R yesterday and have begun stripping it to inspect for damage. Unfortunately, I've found quite a few things, but one item in perticar has me stumped.

On top of my air filter assembly there are three threaded holes. Can you tell me what they are for? There also seems to be an additional area two additional hoses to run adjacent to the fuel line.

The tape was installed by the original owner to cover holes he decided to drill in the assembly.

I've downloaded the service manual, but it shows a different conver than mine, so it was of no help.

Thanks in advance.

That is where the interactive exhaust servo mounted for the stock exhaust. It was a stepper motor that actuated a cable that moved a butterfly valve in the factory exhaust to help with bottom end torque. If you have a Race ECM or servo emulator you are ok. Otherwise you will throw a trouble code to set an engine light without anything there.

Thanks for the help. Good to hear I received at least one unexpected performance upgrade with this purchase.

Now I'm going downstairs to confirm it's existance.

Thanks for the help.

I just confirmed that I have a stock ECM, part number Y0152.3A8, so I guess I must have a servo emulator. Guess I'll do so forum and google search and see what that is exactly.

I'm a little disappointed to find out I have the stock ECM, but oh well.

Thanks,

Anthony

Oh, damn didnt catch that it was a 9....[confused] Must just be a XB12 airbox lid they put on there for some reason....

I don't know, I also have a 06 XB9R and the airbox lid has the inserts to bolt the servo on and the inverted cone that directs air into the rubber snorkel. I bought my bike new. Maybe they just started to put the same lid on all the bikes?
