Airbox Cover

I am trying to take off that x on the top of my air box cover and it started to come off but it seems there is (maybe glue) going to be marks where its coming off from. I wanted to check on here to see if that always happens and i use something to get the glue? off or if i should just leave it on there.

Rip it off, use a little heat gun or best to let it sit in the sun for a little while. Then I should peel off.

Then use some Goo-Gone to remove the sticky stuff or some Bug n Tar Remover.
