Did you cut the holes and do everything yourself? how and what did you use to make the holes, and what kind of wire is that. where did you get it from and what is holding it to the airbox cover?

yes i did all of it my self the wire mesh is the stuff you see in import grills. i used a drill and a dremel to cut and epoxy to hold it in placebyou can by the mesh at any parts store i work at one.

looks good...[up]
may i ask why you went for that staight square shape?

"how does it effect the performance of the bike to open it up like that"

I have to disagree with LeFox on this one, which doesn't usually happen. This mod, when coupled with the airbox delete and rerouting the crankcase breather, may not have added power but it did smooth out the rough spots. Here are a few pics of how I cut my cover {with just a dremel, a bit of doorjam protector from Autozone and some anti-varment house screen (not window screen)}. The airbox top is completely gone, with a piece of shaped plexiglass bolted over a K&N air filter.

just a question...did you do this mod together with the airbox-delete and breather reroute?

anyway, nicely done! looks very clean! [up]

I actually opened up the airbox (cut holes in it, not remove it) and cut the holes in the cover one time, but didn't remove the entire upper airbox until a while later, at which time I also did the breather reroute. When I opened up the box and cover, it almost entirely eliminated those rough spots in the lower RPM range. Removing the entire box and the breather reroute finished up that job, so now the rough spots are close to being entirely gone. BTW, thanks.

yea...so you could say that it's the opening of the airbox that did most of the helping and especially te deleting of, not the holes in the cover.

the holes in the cover don't work if you don't have an open airbox. if you open the airbox, and use it with open or closed cover, the impact would minimum and thus, not that noticable ;)

Yep, your right. See, I told y'all that I usually don't disagree with LeFox.

Well i do like this mod but i just could not cut my lid. So here are some pics of my Air Intake that i made. Striaght cold/rammed air. And it does work very well. i just need either a race ECM or a Dobeck to fattin her up on the top end. Leans out around 115mph. Well enjoy.

Here is what i've done to the inner airbox. Just cut holes in the side with a hole saw. Also, put one right about the gas cap. I just put in the K&N air filter, and thought I would take some pics. Is there a way to get rid of the stuff ontop of the inner airbox? I have the jardine, so I don't think I need the active intake portion. Thought I would check up with you guys before I did anything. Here are the pics.
