this can happen.

can sometimes happen with belt guards too.
 
Bottom belt guard doesnt protect the bottom of the belt. Only the sides. So if this happened through the bottom (which is probably the case) it is still very likely that it couldve happened.

But it couldve went through the sides then got caught and pushed through the sprocket and then punctured it. :p
 
That sucks, I have decided if my belt goes. I will be doing a chain conversion.
 
If I put my guards back on I wonder if I'll get another 36,000 miles out of the OEM belt? :D
