I would like to keep this as simple and straight forward as possible, After coming from a '02 600 I wasnt sure what to expect out of my '06 9R. One of the other owners already did a breather mod and had a Jardine pipe (cracked) on it. Not wanting to buy a new exhaust I ended up cutting it where the damage was and made a shorty out of it. Has K&N filter and the only mod Ive done was an air box delete.

Anyways Ive been looking at the 1050 kit along w/ stage 2 head work and Ive been back and forth on this after going thru the forums, but after getting laid off everything was put on hold. The bike was dyno'd with 78whp and no torque reading due to time limits (free dyno )
I would like to get to 90whp and keep it under $2000 - $2500.

Also I would upload the dyno chart and pics but yeah.... [smirk]

Looking for any tried and true suggestions "arm chair engineers and long hared freaky people need not apply"

Forgot to mention this, I live out in B.F.E. so most of the RPMs used are in the high end *80+mph* thinking with the mods done it might it be worth the 11% primary gearing increase. $200 is pretty decent for a bit more top end but does this with the mess with the speedo?

Buddy your to much........horse power doesn't all ways mean speed. If you want a little more top end speed, change your primary gearing to a 12.....Yes you'll loss a little torque on the bottom end. But not enough to worry about since you want to be on the top of the rpm's anyway.
Then when you get another job.... Think about a 1150 hammer performance kit and change to chain drive.

More power because I want more power. The gearing increase idea wasnt because or power, its because its not too expensive and could slightly lower the rpms at "my" cruising speed (and give a bit more top end.)

I spoke with hammer over the summer and they had great advice for cams, head work and BB-kits but speaking to them also gave me a point or "limit of interest". I hate to say it but originally I was in the market for a GSXR 750 > cost for a decent used 750 ($4k-$6k) you'd be better off looking at a "liter bike" ($4-7$) and be able to resale it whenever with out taking a huge loss.

The 9R is solid and with a 190 rear tire it still feels more nimble then my old 600. Great bike but its just under powered. Im pretty sure with the exhaust as short as it is, it killed off my bottom end but its not hard to max it out.... and again with long straight roads where you can see for 5 miles+

I can get you close with this alone.

Bone stock XB9, only mod is the exhaust + K&N filter. Essentially the same thing you have now, this was 1.75" headers and the muffler only. Tuning will show more of a gain. Highest so far on a XB9 is about 87 hp at the wheel with stock headers, typically you'd see around 75 hp in totally stock trim.

Different bike, stock 1.5" headers, same muffler, XB9r with a race kit ecm.

Btw, I have very short hair.

Those are pretty dam nice, custom made?

On another note I was told when I bought my buell that it had a race Ecm, how exactly does one go about verifying this.....

either will have "For Race Use Only" stamped in white on it, or look at the bar code(s) stickers on it, google the number you find, usually your results will lead to the other Buell forum (Badweb)...anyway, that's how to verify it:D or call local HD dealer and give 'em the number and they can tell you

Even then the tuning STILL might not be race. I had the 060 ecm in my 9R which was supposed to be race but it had stock maps in it. Get ecmspy and call it a day :)
