so i put the ebr race ecm on my 9r, and i bought theecmspy and cable but could never get it to work, so i reluctantly went to harley davidson buell of glendale and ready to fork out an additional 75 dollars for the reset, they told me 3 hours later that my cable was frozen and it wouldnt start, so i said rally?! it ran perfect when i brought it in here! now you cant get it to run? wtf are you talking about?! needless to say they are keeping my bike, however the tech left at that moment to "umm im going to lunch" and i talked to the service manager, he is gna take my 05 in and replace it under warranty, (which expired years ago) free of charge.

Your cable is frozen?? Is he talking about the idle adjust cable, or the ECMspy cable? Either way someone who knows what they're doing should've been able to tell you what withing 5-10 minutes, not 3 hours.

Let us know how it goes.

the tps cable wouldnt turn he said. had it @ 550 when i brought it in, the idle was at 950, when i was gna take my bike it was back up to 850... so i left it. ill pick it up with a new tps adjustment cable and no labor cost... i just ga give up the bike for a week, part has to be shipped

Unless they snapped the adjuster fitting off the end of the cable, they probably could have simply pulled the airbox assembly off to access where the cable threads into the bracket on the throttle body and let it soak with some penetrating oil for an hour or so and I bet it would have worked like new.

Handy tip for everyone with a 2003-2007 XB: It's a good idea to pull your airbox off and apply a dab of grease to the the same spot mentioned above where the idle adjust cable threads into the throttle body bracket. Corrosion sometimes builds up there and eventually leave the cable unable to adjust. You'll swear like a foul-mouthed sailor when you go to adjust your idle and twist that end off where your allen wrench goes. DAMHIK

Yea, Mine sticks pretty bad. I did a reset and thought it was good but after a few miles of riding, the vibration was unsticking it... by the time I got home, my idle was at 3k.. lol fun times trying to stop. Got it set good and I don't plan on touching the tps for a while.

either way, thanks for the heads up, thats good to know, i also was looking at another post abt a guy that had his rear wheel bearings go out on the freeway, someone else had said on his post that the previous owner prolly liked to do wheelies, well mine was bought from a guy that did one last wheelie on the bike before handing me the keys, so i dont want the same problem, im gna order the modified belt tensioner online to help with the preservation of the bearings but how do i know if theyre gettin worn without too much investigation, im fairly new at working on bikes

yea, mine did that and it was because the cable had snapped, the cable will rub and if any water gets on it if it has rust it'll snap once you've twisted so many times
