This was copied from another forum... from the ohiosportbike program. I had a similar set up to this on my Suzuki and it worked perfect. Of course it has been out for awhile for Jap bikes, this would be a great addition for the Buell. If I violated any form rules by sharing this, mods please delete.

I'd like to put out a feeler for how many Buell owners (late model 1125 or XB) would be interested in an auto tune module kit that will work on a Buell.
It will utilize dual wideband 02 sensors (one for each cylinder) in a semi-closed loop system to automatically adjust and fine tune the Air Fuel ratio to the engine it is installed on.
This is an extremely accurate and adjustable system, far more sophisticated than the stock narrowband O2 closed loop learning system that comes standard in the stock ECM.
The stock narrowband closed loop learning system is disabled in the stock ECM and replaced with this much more accurate, programmable wideband closed loop system.
All you have to do is set up your Air/Fuel Maps then ride it normally and it will adjust on the fly. The more you ride it, the better it gets.
You will be able to program the desired AF Ratio into each individual cell of a map, and if you change intake or exhaust flow it will adjust for it on an individual load-point basis.
Pricing will most likely be in the $900 - $1000 USD range as a complete kit, similar to the pricing for other systems on the market (when all said and done) that are not compatible with the Buells.

I'm trying to determine what the market potential is for a system like this to see if it is worth the effort, and based on the response I get I may develop a complete kit for Buells.
If you have a serious interest in this product, please send me an email [email protected]

I think xopti's program will basically rescale the fuel map based on your afv ratio. This one will be used like ECMspy.

This system sounds pretty cool. There a lot of other systems that do this though that are much cheaper. $900 is not worth it IMO

What is out now for the Buell that will auto tune with wideband o2 sensor readings? I am still a newb to tuning....

yeah, that's a lot of money considering the mods that can be done for a lot cheaper & use other systems.
not worth it IMO either

This sounds very similar to Zippers Thundermax system for Harleys. While it is prohibitively expensive for most it would be a great option. When I got tired of messing with the old Magnetti Marelli system on my SE Roadglide I changed the complete EFI system to the THundermax, they preload your maps based on info you give them and tell you that it will start and go to a certain RPM for a few seconds then drop to idle at a apecified RPM. I thought yea right , but it works GREAT, great power gains and better than stock gas mileage. If you can give me a similar set up for my Uly count me in.

I believe ecm spy, osb and xopti all use a set fuel/ignition map that dose NOT auto adjust to a specified air/fuel ratio. My OSB system actually disables the o2 sensors so the bike is always in open loop. What dave is talking about would be the perfect set up for these bikes esp if it was easy to change it around.... fatten it up for twisties and track days and clean it up some for road trips... I would be interested but I already dropped +$300 for the osb performance utility and a cable... and $1000 would be a real hard pill to swallow!

When you say kit, if you're talking about it coming with both wideband sensors, then the price is right for me. I wouldn't want to try doing my own tune with a single narrowband, and the price of software, cable, and widebands isnt a whole lot less than this kit which also autolearns.

If it doesn't come with the sensors, the price is ridiculous. I don't pay half that much for software for my car.

I think David at OSB is talking about the sensors and everything included(complete). I emailed him and tried to get more information but he says he will begin the testing soon then release more information. He said he is first trying to gage interest.

don't forget to add the price for new header pipes, most of the buells only have one o2 sensor on the rear cylinder. was it 09 or 10 that they added the one to the front cylinder??

this sounds a lot like Zipper's Thunder Max or the Power Commander 5? I actually think their prices have come down a little in the last year too. but hell break it out & put it on the market, competition is good, it keeps the others honest. I hear the Thunder Max is pretty good but I know that Power Commander has a habit of releasing products ASAP to get them out on the market with out completing all of the R&D. examples: warning lights stay on, tachometer freezes at a certain rpm, should I go on? when you call their help line they respond with "yes this is a standard occurrence on that model" "keep checking back with us every couple months or check our website, we'll post a download to repair this when we have the cure" makes you feel great after spending that kind of $$ [mad]

Yeah, I had thought about that. On my Suzuki I had the Dynojet PC V and the autotune. It was around $650.00 back then. I had to have a bung welded to the collector. 2010 has the extra sensor. I thought about either finding a 2010 header if I do go that route, or just have bungs welded in.

It wasnt only '10 that the front had the sensor, but I would just have one welded in.

24_7,
where are you located? if this is in the experimental/R&D stage, I would be more than happy to assist. If you need that bung welded in your header etc. I really dig projects like this. feel free to PM me regarding any personal info if you want.

Thats good to know, if I did need a header there may be more available. What other years have them? I have a mid year 09 build date on the XB12r and I only have one?

The welding may be the only way in the end. I remember on my Suzuki the wideband wouldn't fit in the stock sensor location... It was the bosch one that came with the Power Commander.

,

Bolt08 thanks for the interest. I appreciate how helpful and eagar the forum members are here. Plus, alot of the crap I don't have the skills to do anyway :D I will be at standstill until I get more information about the system. I just stumbled onto it on another forum and thought I would pass on the findings. I will probably have to dig this thread back up because its still probably a few months out before one is available. I asked David at OSB to let us know more when its closer to completion.

Hey guys I have been emailing Dave and he said that both widebands and contollers come in the $900 price

I just read through this again, and I had a hella typo.

It WAS only '10 that had the front sensor. We have two '09's, one being late enough that it came out of the crate with the front brake recall already done, and we don't have front sensors.

Its expensive, IF I can get the money together, I think I will give it a shot

Shi# happens [up]

On the brake recall.. is this the re-route of the line? or is it something different?
