Just curious if anyone does any touring on their Buells. I'm looking to do at least one major road trip (1000mi+) this year and obviously storage becomes a bit of a problem on rides like that.

Anyone have bags on their Firebolts? I like the idea of a tail bag and saddle bags are infinitely useful. Don't care a whole lot for tank bags though. Anyone have any suggestions? Keep in mind that I travel light so HUGE bags are not necessary. I did noticed there is a company called Cycle Guys that makes a small tail bag for the Firebolt that collapses down and attaches to the rear seat; fairly "stealth" although I'd imagine a bit short on space. Any suggestions? Pics on fitment would be helpful as well.
thanks.

I have Nelson Rigg soft bags on my bolt and they work great. Cortech makes super nice bags too.

I did 700km round trip regularly last year and used all Buell luggage. I have the deluxe tank bag, the suitcase they call a tailbag and saddlebags from a Lighting SS that I've modified to fit. More than enough space for everything I needed.

I did 3000 miles from California to Minnesota this summer. I used the tank bag, a backpack, and a small duffel bag bungeed to my passenger seat. I had a little much, but it was pretty much everything that I owned while living in Cali for a few months. the Buell tank bag is great and has lots of room (though it does look a little goofy). I would go with Alfatango on the saddle bags as well. If you pack light, you should not need much more than the tank bag, saddle bags, and a small backpack (I say small because your back will get sore with a heavy backpack on for a long ride).

I have the core tech Saddle bags.
There nice but when i can i ups a box to my destantion.
And carry just one change of cothes with me i plan on getting the matching tail bag this year.
Pink gorilla has so nice stuff and a form discount

I have to say, I'm diggin' the Nelson Riggs and Cortech bags. I could easily pack enough stuff in those for a 3-5day ride. Any more and I'll just find a laundromat. Thanks for the pics guys/girls [up]

It's good to see I'm not the only one that loves getting away on an "improper touring bike".:D Who says you need an 8-900lb, overweight, underpowered sofa of a motorcycle to see the country.:D I did a 1200mi trip in 09 to Deals gap on my 92 GSXR and it will always be one of my all time favorite things I've done on a motorcycle. If the economy hadn't killed the 2010 trip I'd have done another trip (was going to go to the East coast). Oh well. There will be a 2011 trip if I have to go alone.[cool]

I'll probably be selling my nelson rigg tail/saddle bag setup pretty soon. Nice bags but I just never use them (they've only been used once). Can send you pics if you're interested...
