I have an XB9S and am thinking about getting an 1125CR. Has anyone else upgraded from the XB to the 1125? Anyone regret it or miss anything about the smaller buell? Was it worth it?

I had an 05 CityX for around 7 months before I crashed it. It was my first bike and I thought it was a pretty fun time. It had a Jardine and I added a k&n. I didn't know much about it or how to ride. I learned some things and pretty quickly thought maybe the grass was greener with the 1200 flavor. I ended up low siding and breaking my wrist. Insurance took the XB and as I recovered I watched A twist of the wrist 2 about 4 times. I *almost* got a 12scg but it ended up falling through. So I took interest in the 1125cr. I found one I liked with a k&n, Keda rt-3, and ecm to match. As I rode it home (first time back on any bike in 3 months) I obviously had to give a little test of my new prize. In a word..... Holyfuckingshit. I wasn't quite prepared for what was coming and as I nailed the gas it nearly pulled my hands off the grips. And this wasn't first gear either. I smiled from ear to ear the whole way home. And the exhaust sounds like it's looking for babies to consume. With my newfound skills from ATOTW2 I feel very comfortable taking the same corners WAY faster on the CR than the XB. And the XB is like riding a paint shaker compared to the Rotax. So I said all that to say this; I'm very happy with my 1125 and would certainly recommend it.

Also I should add that mine came with the stator and V/R fiasco all taken care of. But my clutch is starting to weep.

And I certainly don't mean to take anything away from the XB. I liked mine very much and would like to get another. They get substantially better MPG too. Well, I can only say that for the 9 w/o a race ecm, I'm sure that'll change things.

I went the opposite direction. I went from an 1125CR (My father owned it but kept it in my garage) to an XB9SX. I cried when my father sold it but I understood why as it was costing him as more to insure it than all three of his bikes and two cars combined.

I honestly like the handling and look of my 9SX more but if I had the financial ability to have an 1125CR, I'd be all over it.

I had an 03 xb9r before my 08 1125r. I miss the xb honestly. Yes at first the 1125 seems like its better in every way but as time goes on you begin to miss the little things. The main thing I miss is the sound. Dear Jesus my pipe on my xb was music to my ears. Nothing compares to the sound of an air cooled twin. And the low end grunt and ridability is much easily accessible on the xb. I've also noticed the xb is probably the safest bike of the two for my driving record lol. 1 1/2 weeks after I got the 1125 I got pinged for 102 in a 55 and an additional reckless op for being on one wheel. That would never happen on the xb lol.

In a nutshell, the 1125, feels and sounds like an alien spacecraft in comparison to the xb. Yes the 1125 is a fast bike but it's not the fastest. It still doesn't have the top end of the i4's but it will stay a length ahead of any 1000cc bike in my area up to 120mph. And really you shouldn't even be going that fast to begin with lol. The 1125, performance wise is a mid ground between my old r1 and my old xb. Dont get me wring, The 1125 has plenty of power down low but the fun doesn't start until The tach hits the midrange. It's essentially the same chassi as an xb but with a slightly longer wheelbase and feels identical to the firebolts seating position. If you are comfortable in your xb you will be comfortable in your 1125 as far as position and cornering go. 1125's require more maintenance than the xb's also. There's much more I'd like to say but I really don't feel like writing a book right now and it's so hard to see on this damn 3.5 inches of screen. Not to mention spellcheck pisses me off to no end. So this is where I stop :p

Best thing about going from the xb to the 1125? 6 gears. Without a doubt lol.

HA. Made me giggle.

Really??? There is much more vibration on my 1125 than there ever was on my xb. But with the rotax the vibrations don't start until you get up higher in the rev range. Opposite of the xb which evens out as the tach climbs.

Funny enough, when I had my 2001 Aprilia Mille R, I told people that I thought it used babies for fuel because it was just so angry.

My god, how could I forget. I miss having a 6th so much. I think that's the #1 thing I wish the XB had.

HA! When my mom saw a pic of the CR she said Is that angry looking machine your new bike?

Yeah that's true. I suppose it's more noticeable on the XB because you're always lower in rpm around town, and sitting at lights. When it starts rapping out the Rotax does vibe pretty good, but at that point I'm usually focused on other things.

For sure. Sometimes I even wish there were 7.

I was at a meet on Tuesday night and got to see a black 1125CR in person. Wow... looks much better than google images! And 50% more HP!

I'll stick to my XB12R. Proper HD power plant, cornering I will never complain about, low maintenance.. and another 50HP is just going to get me in trouble. The XB12R is just enough hooligan for me :p. Oh, and I already own it, paid for, cheap insurance for a 1200.

my buddy had a 1125 for a couple weeks and he said that thing was a animal for sure when he rode it, i personally never rode it so i cant speak for its handling and what not but for the sound it deff sounded very pissed off all the time but i still like the sound of the XB's more

Lol, never heard that expression attributed to one of mine before!
Oh it's very good! The sound and the power from 6k to 10k are amazing. It's loud as can be and seems unstoppable. A very potent combination. My hat is off for you. It looks tons better than the super bulky stocker too.

The pictures do them no justice. Completely different animal up close.
By buddy said the exact same thing. He has a GSXR 600 and after seeing and hearing mine he's looking for one for himself. He was skeptical when I showed him the picture, but when we picked it up he loved it.

Went from a 12 to a 1125cr.. the only thing I dislike about the Cr is the ease of getting tickets now.. I got 1 on my Xb in 2 years and already have 3 with the Cr in less than a year.. handling is similar but smoother with the 1125... keda is the man.. thing is stupid loud. Everyone I ride with hates it.. I just smile and give it a little rev to the limiter...

Went from this

Mind you they were both stock until I got them and with the paint being done by Buellybagger they both look stunning... Cadillac pearl white with a satin clear..

went from an '03 xb9R to the '08 1125R... I regret selling the XB9, however, I dont regret purchasing the 1125R.

I actually sold the XB9R because I just didnt ride it anymore after I bought the 1125R. the power difference is pretty drastic... (by that I mean the 1125 just pulls for days.) I remember once when I decided to take my XB to work in lieu of the 1125, and hit the rev limiter on it a couple times before I got to work because I was just used to 1st gear topping out around 65mph, and 2nd around 90-95mph on the 1125, where the XB was much lower. it took a bit of getting used to, but I kinda miss the sound of the XB. The stock 1125 sounds kinda like a sewing machine (my FMF fixed that!) but I was used to the race exhaust on my xb9, which sounded very nice to me.

performance wise, the 1125R goes a lot faster, but it is slightly harder to turn than the xb was, not that it is difficult by any means, I just think the XB handled a little better.I think the wheel base is a bit shorter on the XB series... but a lot of people I have noticed have said some similar things to me... it just depends on your needs/ wants for a bike...
