I have an '06 XB9r with a Hawk and K&N, and the '07 race maps (fuel and timing) flashed to the stock ECM. I live in the Phoenix, AZ area and will have to get my bike through emissions testing this summer.

Has anyone had any experience with Arizona emissions testing and a race ECM or maps? Should it pass, or will I need to reflash the stock maps before getting tested?

go in the morning on a day when the line is short.fresh oil will also help.dont know about a buell but this helped with my busa.

Thanks for your suggestions. I have lived here for over forty years, since before they started testing, and have run countless vehicles through; from motorcycles to class 8 road tractors but I just didn't know if a Buell with a race map would have a chance of passing.

oh jeez, I remember the days of emissions testing. What a joke! Everyone just knew the hoops to jump through in order to get their heavily polluting vehicle to pass, then undid the changes right after and had a heavily polluting vehicle again! MN did away with emissions testing about 15 years ago, thank goodness!

If all these hogs running around can get thru I would think a good running Buell could too!

Hey Willy, Im in Mesa... We should get together for a ride sometime! Alos, a few Buellers meet up a chase's diner in Chandler the first Monday of each month to BS about bikes, rides and racing. You should come out 6:30pm.

we still have emissions testing here in NM...(some cities) but none require motorcycles to be emissions tested.

Dude, Arizona motorcycle emissions is a joke. I had an Sportster that shot flames when I started it up. I had it so rich you could smell the gas coming from it. PASSED.

I wouldn't sweat it.

They only do a rolling test on cars, bikes are just a sniffer test, no running up and down through the gears on a dyno. My 03 passed last May with no issues.

In NYC, I was afraid I'd have trouble passing inspection with a gutted can (for noise and emissions) and was looking for a stock one to slap on just to pass and then put the modded one back on. I couldn't find one so I just went in as is...cuz I was about to pass the deadline after registration.

The guy at the shop just goes:
"What kind of bike is that?"
Me:"Buell Firebolt"
Him: "NICE.. 9?"
Me: "12.."
Him: "NICE..Damn Shame they stopped makin' them.."
*Slaps a sticker on it*
Him: "6 bucks..."

I gave him a 20, and left it at that. whole thing took less than a minute. It almost seems like a given that no matter what they say or do... theres a ready made defense somewhere back there that allows them to say at a later date "He must have did all that illegal sh*t after it passed and i put the sticker on it."
