This morning on the way to work I got pulled over for not having a displayed tag (for those who haven't read my last thread: I purchased the bike on Tuesday, got it registered and ordered the OEM tag bracket yesterday) I pulled the bike over on right hand turn lane on the backside of the north Venice Island bridge.

I showed the cop my BOS and my receipt, and he asked me to put the tag in the illegal location while he was running my info. He was a nice guy, and just gave me a warning.

Well, I mounted the tag to the bracket with the only bolt I had, and remounted the bike. When I started it up, I decided to take a peak at the tag and see if the vibration was too much for the one bolt that was only hand tightened. I got off the right side of the bike (away from traffic) and knelt down to see the tag. As soon as I did, the bike rolled forward off the stand and fell away from me. It was the most embarrassing moment of my life.

There I am in the middle of traffic, dropping my own bike with the officer looking right at me. Fortunately, the bike isn't hurt, just a little scratched on the bars and lever. He told me just to brush it off, he has dropped his Harley several times.

[sad]

Haha, we all drop'em once in a while bro. A couple weeks back I was waiting for a truck to move so I could pull into my walk, once he moved I went to pull in and I musta just lost my balance, I planted the foot but it just wasnt enough and I dropped her. No biggie dood.

well...yea...sh.t happens

had it twice with my ducati when somebody played with my gears and i didn't look when i pushed the start button

I was riding home from Michigan (I was somewhere in Minnesota) when I got caught in a rain storm... it was like riding into a wall of water.

About 10 miles later the rain quit and the sun came out, so I stopped to change out socks/boots. Put the bike on the kickstand and got off. I guess the ground was a little un-even, and the bike went for a tumble. DOH!

You think your bike is a pain to get back up on level ground? Mine slid halfway down a muddy hill.

Just brush it off, it happens to everyone. Congrats on the new bike, and welcome to the forum.

I got the best one, so far:

I pulled up at a stop light on my R1 one morning next to a hot girl in a convertible. It was warm but very "duey"? from the overnight cool air. I put my foot down on the white cross walk paint blocks and immediately started sliding since I only put my left foot down and leaned. The wet paint was slick as snot and even thought I was fighting with all my mite to stay up I slowly went into the splits position, with my right foot on the peg and my left foot sliding steadily across the paint. Lightly laid the bike down and wanted to die from embarrassment.

Got stopped already...damn! Sorry to hear about the drop. Thankfully haven't done that yet. Have been very close though.

Was rainin heavy one day so boss let me pull bike into shop, as i came to a stop on the slick concrete floor put i my foot down, kick stand didnt stay out. as it started to lean i felt the stand come up, but it was too late and too slick. my foot went one way and front tire the other(missed floor vice by inches). about 10 guys for an audience.so embaracing. then they tell me about there dropped hogs and all is forgotten.

One morning, pre-coffee, I pulled into the gas station on my HD Heritage Softail Classic. I just completely forgot the kick stand. I didn't realize that is wasn't down until I had all my weight on the left foot and my right leg was already swung over about to meet up with my left.

I then proceded to try to get under the falling 800lb sum-ma-ma-bitch offensive lineman style to push up and prevent it from going all the way down. That didnt work and probably looked worse than if I had just let it go down then bring it back up. Nothing like seeing it fall slowly and pathetically fighting a loosing battle...

Needless to say, ever since then I always double check that my kick stand is down and give the bike a decent jiggle before dismounting to make sure everything is super stable.

Just like everything else in life, you live and you learn. Welcome to the club!

Yeah I brought my bike to a Car/Bike show and as I got off all big and mighty having everyone looking at me I didnt realize I sat the kickstand right on a rock. As soon as I let go of the bike it rolled forward falling over onto my foot, and spilling gas all over the place since I had just topped off.

A buddy had some quick detail and like mentioned above all you can do is brush it off.

I went to the store to pick up a few things last weekend and while leaving I noticed a few people watching me walk up to my bike. I looked over to see about 8 people, a few hot girls and the rest guys standing around their gsxryzfzxcbr 1000600's. A few had that look of "a Buell, I cant believe people buy those things". So I jump on the bike and fire it up and everyone looks (the Jardine is loud) as I back out to the spot. I put it in gear and let out the clutch. I stall it while my handle bars are turned and almost dropped the bike. It took everything I had to keep it up. I have only stalled it one other time in 10K miles. I could see them out of the corner of my eye laughing and joking about it. I was so pissed I wanted to punch someone. I hated my bike for about 5 minutes.

I have a very similar story, I dropped my bike being a dumb ass, picked it up and started riding. I got about a half mile down the road when my peg broke off from dropping it. I looked down at the missing peg, and looked up and I was running a red light... in front of a cop. I just pulled over and said I deserved the ticket. It was sooo dumb of me. No ticket though. He told me to just be careful.

Watched a couple come into a dealer, she's on a Blast, he's on a full touring BMW. She drops the Blast and is stuck under it. We go over to help and he's is such a hurry to help her he forgets his kickstand and goes down too. The best part? He starts yelling at us to help lift HIS bike up while wifey is still stuck under hers!!! We helped her.

I dropped mine loading it in and out of storage...by storage I mean laundry room in my house;). I keep my bike in the laundry room of my house. I access it from the side door. To get the bike in and out every day, I have to roll it up two stairs on the concrete patio. Use truck ramp I made out of couple 2'8's. Dewwy one morning and foot slips off of ramp whlie stepping onto it from door jam. Other foot slips on tile floor inside slidding under bike. Lost balance and bike pinned me in door jam as I was trying to save her, being stupid holding onto handle bars. Stinking peg stabbed me in leg, frame cut my head from bouncing it against door jam and...broke my ankle when it slid out and totally laid down on me. Im about 200lbs 6'3 and was totally stuck. Picture this. Looking at front of house. 4x4 concrete patio on left side off door. Half bike sticking out with rear tire off of concrete. Bike is laying on man, a little dazed, pinned down under it with broken ankle. Luckily neighbor was outside and rescued me. Very embarrassing needless to say....but @#^% happens!!
