This morning on the way to work I got pulled over for not having a displayed tag (for those who haven't read my last thread: I purchased the bike on Tuesday, got it registered and ordered the OEM tag bracket yesterday) I pulled the bike over on right hand turn lane on the backside of the north Venice Island bridge.
I showed the cop my BOS and my receipt, and he asked me to put the tag in the illegal location while he was running my info. He was a nice guy, and just gave me a warning.
Well, I mounted the tag to the bracket with the only bolt I had, and remounted the bike. When I started it up, I decided to take a peak at the tag and see if the vibration was too much for the one bolt that was only hand tightened. I got off the right side of the bike (away from traffic) and knelt down to see the tag. As soon as I did, the bike rolled forward off the stand and fell away from me. It was the most embarrassing moment of my life.
There I am in the middle of traffic, dropping my own bike with the officer looking right at me. Fortunately, the bike isn't hurt, just a little scratched on the bars and lever. He told me just to brush it off, he has dropped his Harley several times.
[sad]
