So my shock is blown and I am in need of a replacement/rebuild. I found a guy who will do a rebuild, but it will take a few weeks.

How would ou keep the bike up and steady for that long?

Just put a bottle jack between the rear tire and the subframe and jack it up. Just a little to get the bolt out and then you can go far enough to get it apart.

^^^^^^^^^No! No! No!......^^^^^^^^^

Take two bricks/block of wood or a floor jack and put it under the muffler while the bike is on the kick stand.
if you have a junkdean or a pipe that doesn't have a jack point or you want to be able to move your bike around.
put two pieces of cut 2x4 wrapped in a towel between the swing arm and frame. Just make sure that your block is not on the fuel pump or fuel line.

Also not sure if your running a stock shock, but if so.... You might want to just buy a used one off pinwall for $35 and then you will have no real down time.

My shock is stock. What is pinwall? If I could get a cheap used one I could just have that shipped strait to the guy who dies the rebuild.

Not having my bike too unstable for long is a good thing for me since I have 2 roommates who have knocked into my bike with stuff repeatedly....
