Today I took the bike out for a ride. Everything was fine up until I came up to a light and the bike would not hold an idle.. It will start up but will immediately sputter and die again... I thought maybe the fuel pump because I don't really heat it when I turn the bike on... Any thoughts?

Sounds like loose battery cable or dirty intake. Can u hold a rev and keep it alive. Need a little more detail. Does it smoke. Any hesitations

If it is riding fine until you come to an idle stop I would do a TPS reset first. Mine ran like ass once where I had to keep it rev'd at stop lights and a TPS reset cured it.

Well just for an update after sitting for about 30minutes I had to move it out of traffic and started it up and everything ran fine and was able to get through the light and into a nearby parking lot. After I pulled in I sat for like a minute or two and then it slowly started to sputter out and die... thinking about it now then yeah it may need a tps reset.. Ill be finding out more on tuesday.. i had no choice but to tow it to a shop nearby so its locked up now... =(

Dang I didn't know you were out. If I would of known that I could of came and got you if you were out in the Sanford area. If you need a hand let me know. I do need to finally get a ramp for my truck. Let me know if you need a hand fixing her up.

Ok so the problem is back.. Rode for about thirty minutes and ran fine.. Came back to it about an hour later and the bike would start but would die almost immediately after.. Fuel pump sounds funky so maybe its that.. Or the injectors? On a side note I have been riding it for about two weeks with no issues s after the first problem came up and I thought I had fixed it.. Both times this has happened were on days where it was nice out and warmer... Possibly something overheating? Thinking of replacing fuel pump, tps, and injectors unless someone has any ideas?

Any trouble codes? I know there is a trouble code for the injectors. You can also test the fuel pump and injectors via ECMSPY which would be my first step and also check for codes while at it.

I have ran ecmspy on all parts of the bike and it says everything is working fine.. No trouble codes either

You are in FL? In the Sanford area? Any mods at all?

Mine would do the same thing until I flashed the race maps. I believe the maps are just too lean from the factory. Cold start enrichment could be not quite right as well. If you are in this area I wouldn't mind lending a hand.

The last thing I'd do is start replacing parts for no reason. Might as well start flushing dollar bills...

:( I dunno.... I thought he might have been the guy that lived in/near titusville. I think I recall him borrowing an ecm form someone else(I remember a post about not hearing back from him from the guy that sent it to him....don't know what came of that).

I could be wrong though....might be the wrong guy...

He is in Sanford, NC. I actually have family in Sanford, FL. Next time I go down there I'll have to bring a Buell and try to meet up with some of the FL guys.

When you get the funky sound does it prime then make a dimmer less faint noise. You may have a wiring issue within the fuel pump assembly.

well the priming sound is different now.. it sounded like this the last time this happened and i checked my wiring, put a new battery in, and replaced the headlights. At first I didnt hear a priming sound but the bike ran fine.. then the normal priming sound just started one day and things were still fine. Now its back to a really weird priming sound. But if I go to start the bike right now it will start up just fine and idle for like 5 to 10 minutes and then die out again. Could be wiring.. stuff is tight in the back end.. something may be rubbing. Ill check the pumps wiring tonight. Other then that I really have no clue. I know buying those parts is like flushing money down the drain but I look at it as preventative maintanence lol..

Are you checking the wiring inside the fuel pump assembly or where it goes into the pump mount? The wiring problem would be on the inside right where the wiring attachs to the actual pump it rubs on the mount inside there.

Well i replaced the fuel pump with a newer bikes version and less miles.. Also replaced the coil pack.. Still think it may be a overheating issue but I dont know what I'd be looking for if it is.. Ran it yesterday and went for about 50miles with no issues..
