What is the point to those little stands that lift your tires off the ground? I thought those were just used to keep slicks off harsh surfaces, but everyone seems to use them on both tires in most pics?

Helps lift bike for service
Really helpfull for those that like to remove their own tires
Good for checking wheel bearings
prevents flatspots on tires from sitting all winter.

I could go on and on................

lol ok so #4 is the only reason why someone would always have their bike up

My bike stays on my stands. They help me go through my pre ride inspections easier. I rotate each wheel checking the tires and wheel bearings. It lets me check every inch of the belt without having to move the bike. Plus even with the upgraded kickstand I still dont trust it.

This answer, plus it GREATLY helps cleaning the wheels on a regular basis. Oh and oil changes become a breeze too.

Im going to have to start changing my own oil too?! This forum is gonna make me work... [smirk]

It all depends on how deep your pockets are my friend, or how close your mechanic is.

Stands come in very handy for most situations and are needed for others.
I know some people use them just to help organize the garage better.

Harbor Freight has a wheel dolly for motorcycles to rotate your tires, think $29...simple design to it, a ramp with 2 rollers
