I finally picked up my 08 XB12Ss yesterday.
I took it straight home to check it and set it up.
I Removed the dicky reflectors, set the suspension as per the book, installed self adhesive head light protective film, removed the pillion pegs [after taking my son for a spin of course!] checked all the main fixings, tightened the mirrors, adjusted the levers etc etc.
Then went to show it off to my mates.
On leaving one mates place I noticed the "Check engine" lamp came on and stayed on.
At the next place not only had the light stayed on but the cooling fan did not come on.
I took it straight home pretty pissed off, the last thing I wanted was for it to go straight back to the shop!
So thinking it could be a loose wire or connection I crawled all over it with a flashlight only to find a small piece of black plastic with 3 staples in it jamming the fan!
I pulled it out with needle nose pliers and a further check revealed the 10amp fan fuse had blown.
I popped in the spare and the problem was solved.
Maybe it is a piece of Buell packing what with the staples and all
Or it could have come from the furniture store next to work and flicked up in to the fan.
It doesn't really matter - i am delighted with the bike and just happy I could fix a very simple but bizarre problem
