Hi,

The other week I blew my cam gasket. I pulled off the cover and 2 of my cams came with it. I cannot for the life of me get those two cams back in timed correctly. They are to the front cylinder. I read that it is recommended to pull the rocker boxes off to release spring tension. Do I need to drop my motor to do this or should I be able to do this with the motor still in the frame.

I ride an 03 buell xb9r

Thanks

well I rotated my engine and pulled the rocker box cover off, but I don't now what to do the release spring tension lol

You have to remove the rocker box itself. You will need to replace the gasket under it too. Get a service manual (you can find them online to download)

Do you know if the gasket between the head and the rocker box is buell specific or would a sportster gasket fit.

Everything is complete and the bike is back together, but my issue now, is that the bike starts and idles, but when I give it gas it bogs out and dies. Is this due to poor ignition timing?

Check your static timing. You had to have pulled the cam position sensor when you replaced the gasket.

checked my error codes, it's not timing. It's a fuel/air intake issue

14 Engine temperature sensor
15 Intake air temperature sensor
16 Battery voltage
33 Fuell pump

Have you cleared the codes and run it again to verify those apply to the current conditions? Codes could be remaining from previous resolved issues or from turning the ignition on with sensors disconnected.

kinda sounds like a bad battery or voltage regulator. If your battery is under 12v the bike is not going to run right.

Well I recently replaced my battery because I was having issues where it would loose charge overnight. I tested my fuel pressure and it is 50-53 which is normal. I put some seafoam in my tank and that didn't do much.

So, I think one of my plugs are dead. I run through what the ECMSpy calls "Diagnostic Functions". when I trigger the front coil it goes click like 5 times and sometimes ignites gas, when I run the test on the rear one we get nothing.

The bike in the video sounds like it is running on one cylinder. Should pull plugs and replace with new and do a tps reset with ecmspy.

So this is where I'm at now, looks like I'm burning oil.

So, I guess all this white smoke is simply because I put seafoam in my tank, so it seams like I am good to go for street vibrations. Thank you everybody for your help.
