i was thinking of changing out the bolts on the side cases on the motor. stock silver to black. would there be a problem with changing them out one at a time(as in this i mean take one out and replacing it w/ black then the next one etc.). do you think any harm to the gaskets would occur? thanks

I believe if you remove one and torque the replacement there would be no need to replace the gasket.

The primary case gasket isn't that sensitive.

Worst case you get a little dribble of a leak and need to replace it. I say it is worth switching them out as you plan.

sounds good, i'm gonna do it. now to figure out the torque setting(anybody know?)[up]

Make sure to follow the order too. Also it is in-lbs NOT ft-lbs.

thanks you guys, i was trying to get around changing out the gaskets by doing them one at a time. maybe i should just leave them alone.:( great pic. though. i need to get a service manual one of these days.

I'm with Xtreme, replacing one bolt at a time, as closely spaced as they are......shouldn't be a problem at all.

If torqued properly the spacing should hold and like I said the worst that could happen is it will leak a little thus needing a gasket change. I would try to save the cash first then replace if needed. I know the gasket set only cost about $15 but it is still $15 that you could save.

I'm sorry. I thought OP was taking them all off at the same time. I agree with Xtremelow, save some cash and try it.
