I'm a fan of Valvoline SynPower DOT 4.

If I can get it, and I'm going to be working the brakes extra hard (i.e. tracktime), Motul 5.1 synthetic. "5.1" is Motul's designation, it's a high boiling point, low moisture activity DOT 4.

HTH.

Well i went and bought some DOT 4... and when i went to take the front reserve cover off... i noticed it said... use DOT 5 ONLY. Can i get away with DOT 4 or should I go with DOT 5

Are you working on a Tuber?

Actually, to answer your question, NO, you can't use DOT4 in a system that specs DOT5. I may get corrected, but the answer is at least that you shouldn't.

ive always been taught you can go higher but not lower for brake fluid ie. you could use dot 4 in a dot 3 system but you can NOT use dot 3 in a dot 4 system

I don't know about that. Everything I've owned has been compatible with both DOT3 and 4. DOT5 is silicone, which is what brings up the issue.

This is on a tuber... BUT.... Im using a XB master and front caliper, and the rear is a ducati (brembo rear master and caliper).

Right now I am using DOT4 in both. I asked because the cover of my XB master says to use DOT5 only.... but the XB manual i have says only use DOT4!!! makes no sense to me.

Also, from looking around online seems the ducati uses DOT4 in for the rear... but my rear rubber line from my master reserve to my master has been sweeting break fluid through it!! I just order new hose from a ducati dealer this morning to replace it. Just sent them an email asking what i should be using. Im also using an XB rear brake like.

So I am still confused if i should be using DOT4 or DOT5... know know the difference but seems all the sites i talk to people on, most are using DOT4.......
