glad you are okay,, but DAMN! Shorts? How Squidly! what you did was called target fixation. Its very common cause of crashes in fighter planes. You look at a point in the distance and you fly (ride) to it. stare at the ground in a dive, you will auger in every time.
In a corner instructors tell you to look across the corner to where you want to go...

I did the exact same thing the other day on my bike, looked at a point in the corner and rode straight to it instead of around the corner. I pulled over, and had a mental reset, (Stop being a idiot) and then rode on. I could have ended up like this instead.

Instead of me lecturing you, Id just say its always a good idea to brush up on skills and think about safety.
Im staying home from work today because it was pouring down rain last night as i left work on my bike, roads were slick, and i hit the MAX light rail tracks in the roadway,, Slick as all hell, Bike went sideways then into a tank slapper, I planted my left leg to stay up, How i avoided going down i dont know. So i let off the throttle and got out of it, But my left knee is very sore today, barely walk, So no crash, but im hurting.

Very glad you are still walking and talking, Could have been much worse

:)

A situation I hope to never find myself in.. Scary feeling losing your breath that hard; had a little anxiety just watching the video! Glad you're okay man!

I have had 2 almost get-offs in my 2+ years of riding in the same scenario. Watching the rider in front of me. You have to train yourself to forget he is there. Give your self some space, let him get ahead. Use your RP's and the 2-Step method from Keith Code. Find your entry point, RP #1 and then look through for RP #2 your exit or where you want to be. Maximize your peripheral vision.

Its common on tracks to see the domino affect or the trail rider watches the crash and continues straight through the apex into the gravel because he lost his RP.

Get back on the bike and do it again. Like your said in the comments, its good your Ego is the one hurt. If that had not been grass things would have been much worse. Oh and wear some gear. Puhlease!

on the bright side, you landed right with a bottle of water if you were thirsty.

All joking aside, glad you're alright. Find some gear.

Helmet: check
Gloves: check
jacket: check
Pants: psh no one like pants

In all seriousness though... Always wear pants. Always. Glad to see you had your other gear on and that you both walked away.

Out of curioustity, what was the other guy riding?

He had a ninja 650, and he had all of his gear on including an icon back/chest protector. The ninja is thrashed though.

That sucks. Be safe buells are so fast they turn your pants into shorts. O **** my smiley face is having a stroke [smirk]
