Hi guys,

Living in South Africa, there are probably only about 15 1125CRs that made it into the country. This has long been my dream bike and I've been searching for about a year now, but enough history.

I have browsed many threads but would just like to hear a few more opinions.

I have finally found one. Red, with 20 000km (14 000 miles) on the clock. It has been standing in a the guys garage for a while, but is in excellent condition. He cold started and it fired up right away, no hesitation or splutters.

Only fault with the bike is the head bearing is loose, but that's an easy fix.

Clutch was weeping a bit, but has been fixed, and the stator replaced which are the only faults to look out for with these bikes I believe.

So, 2009 with 14 000 miles. Is this a no brainer?

If it seems solid I'd say go for it. Also, check if the 12k mile service was done because I believe that entails checking the valves and it's quite a process.

Valve clearance checks at 20, 30 and 60000km

Be aware that stator issue MAY not be fixed, friend of mine had his replaced under warranty 4 times in 20k miles before he bought the EBR stator and so far, so good.

What's he asking for it? Or is he entertaining offers?

Thanks for the replies guys.

Ye, I've heard only good things about the EBR stator, so if I do get it I'll almost certainly order one.

I'm not certain about the valve checks, but I have budgeted for a full service if I take it.

Asking price is R55 000, which is about $5500

I dont know about bike prices there but a cr with 14,000 miles. I would be haggling the price down.

Managed to get it down to 5.3k. He wouldn't go a cent lower :D

Unfortunately, I picked it up on Saturday, and on Sunday night some kids decided to do a u-turn in the middle of the road and cleaned me off. Mostly cosmetic damage but sitting in my garage looking very sad :(
