So i'm thinking about picking up an xb12, most likely an older one with lower miles. Maybe 05ish. I plan to take a lot of trips with it and stack on the miles, so I don't want to buy something new and spend a ton of money when I know that I will be putting it through long rides.

My question is, How low can you get on these things? It looks as if the peg's are kind of low and would be easy to get the hard parts touching the ground. My plans are to go to remote area's in the mountain's up and down the east coast and do some fun riding.

This isn't my first bike. I started at with an R6, then to a Gsxr750, from there a CBR600, and now I have a GSXR1000. I've since converted that to strictly a track bike, so this will be a commuter/fun bike.

Thanks for any input folks! BTW this is also my hello 1st post thread.

Depending on WHAT...XB12 you have....

Just do what I did, I have an "S". I put the "normal" pegs on it. They are straight out of the frame mount, not dropped an inch as many XB's are.

I have no scraping of hard parts with no (maybe about 1/32") chicken strip on the back tire.

You shouldn't have any problems. If you get "off" the edge of the tire, it might be time to hang off the side of the bike a little.

I have about 1/4" of strip on the sides of my tires and I've never hit a peg on the ground. I have a low model and still have the normal drop pegs that come on the lightnings. I did switch the long peg feelers for some bolt studs and some acorn cap nuts so that gives me a little clearance, but I did that to make it easier to get in and out of my basement door, not for ground clearance. I only weigh 145lbs, but still, if I'm almost as the edge of my tires and never hit pegs with the low suspension and 1" low pegs, you shouldn't ever have a problem on a normal XBS, expecially if you put some firebolt pegs on it.

Start with the normal peg feelers, and if you start hitting them just replace them with shorter bolts like I did.

Im 6'2, 225. Longer Torso so I doubt I will search for the long.

Chicken strips are a little over-rated. It's also very dependent on the tires, but if I wanted a could scrub the tire clean on the test ride.

Remove the feelers from the pegs and that will help some. While at the Dragon I ground down both the shifter and brake pedal. You can achieve sick lean angles on these thing when you want to.

I dumped my xb9sx plenty far over .
with the stock 1" drop pegs and very occasionally ever drag a peg.
These bikes lean so easy.
just don't get a low about 1.5"'s shorter

I have never had an issue with clearance when riding. Get what you want and enjoy.

This is going where I want it to. Good to see. Hammer, hard parts are really close.

The reason im so concerned, is on some of the tight countering roads I ride the direction change is quick. Didn't want the thought of hard parts smacking the ground in the back of my head. I think I should be good though.

Trying to decide now whether I will sell my track bike and put it towards the XB, or keep it.
