SO i am itching to get back into riding and have decided on the buell XB12S. Always gawked over them when taking the sportster down to the HD stealership. My only question is I am 6'3" and am wondering how the ride is being the bike has such a short wheel base? I have sat on them countless times, but have never ridden one. It feels fine sitting on the showroom floor, but i don't want to feel cramped while riding. The biggest concern with my sporty was my arse was begging for a break after 30 min and my legs would go numb being crapmed. I understand the XB12Ss has a longer seat area [correct?], but i am looking for a used bike and pickings are slim for Buells here in So Cal. Thanks a head of time.

I got a 03 XB9s and can do about 2 hours before I need a break. For me my butt goes numb, I usually can find a few different positions for my legs to help me through the 2 hours. The stock seat is pretty good, but I have just broke down and bought a select seat. I'll let you know how it is when I get it.

You can get a kit for the Buells that make the pegs an inch lower...that might help [smirk]. Have you tried the Uly?

Yeah i might see how it feels at first then consider the drop kit. I have not tried a Uly, but like i said i would like to buy used seeing as it is only my second road bike and i doubt i can find a reasonably priced Uly. Im a student and working part time at the moment and the insurance on the buells compared to the jap bikes is insanely cheaper. About 1/3 what i would pay elsewhere. That is the real selling point seeing as i am working on a budget.

the lsl rearset is also a possibility.

you can set your feet about 2.75inch to the rear, giving you more legroom.

lsl is the only rearset that gives you that much adjustability.

That sounds like a good option too. I never really thought about swapping out the rearsets. I will look into those as well. Thanks.

just bought a 05 xb12s last week im 6'1" the ride isnt bad just that my butt also goes numd after a while looking to by a new seat soon.

I've got an 08 XB12Ss and she fits perfect. I'm 6'2 195lbs, 32' inseam. The Ss does have a larger/longer seat for the extra driver room/hot punanie on the back. The stock pegs are also 1.5" lower than the S. Go with an Ss if you can find one.

When I got my Ss the right peg was lower than the left. Weird...I bought it from the dealer so I figured that both would be the same. Anyhoo I got the higher peg for the right side and its awesome now. Im actaully 5'10" and it fits me perfectly, I did shave the seat down so I can flat foot it now. I'm still having a little trouble getting used to the bars because they're more like a dirt bike than a sport bike ( which is what i'm used to ) I was thinking of some clip-ons to help make it more like my old CBR.

I have a 2005 XB12S and i'm 6'1. I have had mine for a year now and it is a bit of a crampped ride especially on long rides but i am getting used to it as i like the bike alot.
Didn't know about the lower kit for the pegs.
Does anyone have a website for that kit?

well first off rear sets well give you room. second you wouldnt have to worry about the room you get. i understand that you are worried about being cramped, but i am 6'0" 285lbs and i ride xb12r 200 300 miles. and further if i didnt have to come home and feed the dogs. us bikes are us bike then there are the rest. you know what you are gettin cause you have others. if you cared about price the you would have brought a honda shadow or something.[smirk]

ok, i gotta correct an error...

the rearset i ment was the rizoma ones
