I am considering purchasing an 06 blast with 1600 miles for $2100 soon but one of my concerns is that it won't be able to handle an upcoming trip.

I plan to do the the Pan American Highway from New Mexico to Panama City, Panama. The roads are paved, however, the conditions vary and the last thing I want is an engine or tranny blowout in middle of Honduras.

Would you trust a Blast for this trip?

I've put on more than that in about a weeks time, but definitely bring a couple spare intake boots, or buy the super boot and have a spare.

If you do it my hat is off to you. I have logged 7k on my wife's blast, and after a half hour it has me aching. That being said of all the miles that are on her bike the only thing that has been replaced was the boot mid-winter, once. So if your up to it I'd say go for it.

I would say do all your maintinece before you go like fresh fluids, rubber and so on and do it again when you get to the end of your trip.

Only ofther thing I would sugest is maybe bring a spare belt just in case and some basic tools possilby.

Those little bikes are really reliable so I think it can make it.

My biggest concern would be whether or not your butt will make it. A friend of mine broke her tailbone on a 300 mile trip on a Blast.
