Can I powder coat the pulley?

I'm having my wheels powder coated soon and was wondering if I can have the pulley done as well, or if it would screw up the contact area between the belt and the pulley(due to the thickness of the powder coating). I am going to ask the guy when I go in but am wondering if others have done it.

not the belt teeth sean. belt designed to run up against bare steel. i say this based on a few customers i've had thru the years that powder coated their serpentine belt pulleys on vehicles and had nothing but problems afterwards. i know..toothed belt not the same as serpentine but i suspect problems would be the same.

you could always mask off the teeth.

Don't do the teeth, everything else is fine to powder coat.

Ok thanks for the info. I'll ask the powder coater and ask him to tape off the teeth, hope it won't be a huge PITA which would = $$$
