I recently moved, i had my buell xb12r on the moving truck. i think something fell on the shifting lever which caused the shift linkage to break.

i am not sure if something inside the gearbox broke or what.

i ordered and replaced the broken linkage and went to go ride the bike, noticing that i cant shift out of first.

when i took the bike off of the truck it was stuck in second and i was able to get it into nutural.

i have no clue what the issue could be,

please help

i replaced the clutch cable when i got it because i noticed the cable was frayed. this isnt my first bike so i didnt wanna relive the broken clutch cable on the side of the rode. so yes it rolls when i have the clutch pulled in.

who loaded it and moved it? a moving company? if so, contact them immediately as they are liable for the damages to your Buell. i mention this because unless i missed something here in your description, the damage is going to be internal...as in most likelihood the shift drum.

hi.............this is usually an fairly easy problem to fix. There are two little springs that are attached to the mechanism that turns the shiftdrum. Usually a spring has unhooked or the mechanisch is jammed on the shiftdrum. In case it is just the spring unhooked it may be possible to fix this without removing the primary drive otherwise you need to remove the primary sprocket nut and the clutchhub nut (remember left turn). This needs a few tools and more experience and is best done with two people to lift off the hub and the primary sprocket with the alternator rotor (which can be damaged if you don`t do this propperly). The springs are sometimes are found in the primary oil.......here is how to start .....drain the transmission oil, open the primary chain spanner, unhook the clutchcample and remove the primary cover and have a look first...............cheap diagnostics........good luck and let me know if you need more input...........

XBtiger... you were right.

it was one of those little springs that was stuck. One of the things that the spring is attached to was "flipped" so i simply took the spring off and flipped the thing around and reattached the spring that i previously took off. put it all back together and she ran and shifted beautifully.

that IS a good call. i've seen my share of buells fall over including Uly's in the dirt and never saw the detent springs come un-done or fall off. must have been a very hard fall.
