Clutch clunking??

I've read through about 5 threads where there are comments to, but resolve for the clutch *clunking* on a 2009 1125r. Mine is bone stock, 3600 miles.

When I let out the clutch there is a clunking noise that I can also feel, which is like a hammer hitting metal. The sound/feeling also occurs every time I let off the throttle, no matter what rpm the engine is at. If I am rolling through the gears the clunking is less, but still occurs between 2.5k-3.5k rpm. Also, if I am trying to maintain a drive speed with the engine speed between 2.5k-4k the hammering/clunking is pretty bad, and very nonrhythmic.

If I ride the clutch a little through the gears the clunking is reduced (if that helps anyone pinpoint the problem).

Anyone have a solution? Don't tell me to drive over 4k rpm; I want to fix the problem, not bypass it.

Cush drive bushings, front sprocket, final drive. Sounds kinda like they're broken or gone.

Got the manual opened up to the drive system, and I can't find the "Cush drive bushing". Where are they?

I'll probably end up taking this whole bike apart over the winter ...

Cush drive bushings are on your rear wheel fasteners that attach the pulley to the wheel.

Before you start tearing it apart try re bleeding the Hyd Clutch. Maybe an adjustment you have barely broken. in the bike at 3'600 miles. Small Things First. Cush Bushings in the rear Wheel hub at those miles 3'600 should be in good shape. doesn't hurt to check. Clutch Pack may need to be inspected for a defect or chipped gear.I don't think that is the problem. I have an 1125CR and it did that at first. I re bled the Hyd, Clutch Three times re adjusted with no play at the Lever perch. Still bumps a little when cold .
However once I rode it a bit I can shift the gears/ Clutch now and it hardly ever Grinds. Sometimes it will clunk & catch me off guard here and there. My Honda 04 RC 51 I've had since it was new and now and then it also does it but not like you are describing mostly if the Engine is dead cold. Two V Twin Engines in my garage doing the same thing years apart. Hope it is an easy fix.*Jimi

Well I am about to head to the sandbox for a while, but before I left I wanted to try to simple fix (hyd bleeding) and it seems to have made a Significant change. We'll see how it does when I get back, and go from there. Thanks for the help!
