hey i have a buell firebolt from 03

it been stading still for 2 years, and now i finally got it to start.

the clutch dont work?

the cable is fine
I tried the DIY video about adjustment of clutch, it dosent work.
is do move from side to side when i pull the clutch
but it dosent make the wheels go free when its in gear

i heard that it could be it just need to be warm and workét with. and its because its been standing still for so long.

????

so how do i warm it up and excise it best. and for how long

hope that you guys can help

Sounds like your clutch plates have stuck to the steels, have a friend help you push it in 2nd gear holding the clutch lever in rocking it back and forth aggressively until they un-stick, hopefully that will get you going, crank it up and let it warm up, then change all your fluids. Hope this helps

danish: agree with what luigi said. sounds as if your metal and friction clutch plates are stuck together. this is not uncommon with a wet-clutch system that has been sitting idle for 2 years as you described. some will tell you to start the bike, put front wheel against a wall, jam it in first gear and hope plates break free....or something similar but methods such as that incredibly hard on the transmission. your best bet is the following: find a long driveway or large empty parking lot....anything that is flat and rideable will work. start the bike in neutral, let it warm up a bit to get some heat in the motor, get on it and either paddle with your feet or have someone push you until your at a sufficient speed to engage first gear WITH CLUTCH LEVER PULLED IN which is clutch disengaged. keeping lever pulled in the bike should now be moving at a slow first gear speed. keep lever in and gently rev the motor up and down until the plates break free. should happen in 3-6 flicks of the throttle.

right now there is snow on the road that will be gone i a few days, and then i will try it.

can it also be done if i put it in to second gear insted?

If you do it the way Lunatic suggested, which sounds like an easier way than mine, you would have to push pretty fast to get 2nd gear to engage with-out stressing the tranny too much, if it is in a garage right now you can do my way in the warmth, buy a friend a couple of beers and get to rockin'

you would have to push pretty fast to get 2nd gear to engage

that is correct.
1st gear is the gear of choice. you can also try and break the plates free with motor off, bike in 1st or 2nd gear, clutch lever pulled in, flat surface, you sitting on bike, someone else rocking it back and forth but method i described above has better success rate.

the clutch works again.. i put it in first, hold the clutch in. and push it forwars and backwards, let the clutch go.. pull it in again and roll it for some meters, let it go, pull it in and go some more meters.. when it feelt a bit like it was loose, fired it up and the clutch worked... thanks
