So I've been feeling the clutch slip for a while, and today it would hardly accelerate in 5th gear. What are some good options for clutch replacements? Who has replaced the clutch in these bikes? Is it difficult? I'm not a mechanic, but I normally work on my own toys.

Once you ID if it's indeed bad, you can consider the E-1 kit on our site. We'll have once ready to ship this coming week. It's a pretty easy job if you're moderately mechanically inclined and have the proper tools.

I did a barnett on my 12 and drag specialties kevlar on the 9. Both are extra plate kits. One worked great and dropped in(barnett). The other wouldnt release until I pulled it all the way back apart, removed and left out the factory release spring (flared ring on the inside of the clutch and the first thing u put in when u put it back together pita!). Niether came with instructions and in their defense the kevlar kit didnt have 03^ buells listed under applications. But it did say 02 firebolt. My bikes an 03 made in 02 there really were no titled 02's so... And the kevlar kit was recomended by longhorn harley. They both hold fine on a 240 rear tire.

There is no extra plate kit for the XB clutches, 2hy2ride. All of the aftermarket clutch kits use the same number of plates as the factory XB setup.

The Energy One kit eliminates the factory jutter spring and spring seat. The Barnett kit retains the factory jutter spring setup.

Either the E1 or Barnett clutch setups are good. Just decide if you want to retain the jutter spring setup (ensures smooth clutch engagement but clutch engagement is pretty smooth without it as long as it is properly adjusted)

Follow the factory service manual procedure. It should take around 2 hours for a mechanically inclined person the first time.
