Anyone know where to get a comfort kit? SPHD sells only a right side scoop for over $200, remember when the whole kit was about $125. I do like those under the seat side vents, do not see them anymore either.
Any recommended after market kits or scoops? I have seen this one for under $100:

Any Info appreciated. There is a lot of old info and deleted links in researching this.

Best bet is to find someone selling a Uly with the kit already installed and see if they want to sell those parts separately.

Ha Ha! Well this is my 3rd Uly, and it does not have a comfort kit or heated grips like my first 2 already came with them. Thanks.....

How big of a difference is it? My Uly had all but the exhaust header heat shield. it was still scorching hot.

The kit helps enough that I want one especially this summer in Tx. It also keeps the dust, dirt, rain, road grit, insects, off my ECM, battery, and out of the belly pan. Just some of the reasons.... In My experience with a Uly In Tx, the best way to control the temp is to get it tuned or get a proper tune, not the stock one, and it will run cooler and better.

I know a guy in the neighborhood that had the kit in the factory box. I know it had the RS scoop and the underwear piece but it’s been about 2 years since he asked me if I needed it. I do the water meter reads in town on Wednesday and I’ll see if he still has it.

Now that's service!

Tbone, thanks for your comments on the heat mitigation. That was my biggest problem with my Uly. Ultimately solved by going with an Xb9sx with a tall seat. Perfect height, plenty of power, but not as comfortable.

I actually just ordered a comfort kit from Germany. It looks like it may have been the only one they had though. I wonder if it would be feasible to have the shroud that goes over the shock 3D scanned to make a 3D printable file so it can be made again moving forward?

Thank You DamMechanic! Great that he has one! Maybe I should fly up to Portland, hijack my brother's GS1200, I have done that before, and ride out to pick it up. Ah, I can only wish....

Speaking of comfort kits and heat shields...does anyone have one of the Spec Ops or similar heat shield/blankets? I have a family member who is good with sewing and I may try to get a nicely sewn one made for my '06 12S. A pattern would make it easy to make a few...

My recently purchased '09 Uly has the comfort kit but the rear shock cover is broken. I may try to plastic weld it together as a spare, but I found one on eBay from a bike being parted. My bike has a good RH scoop and exhaust heat shield, so I didn't need those parts.

I'm curious, what temps do these parts see? I'm curious if a 3d printed replacement would survive. Or maybe a simplified, powdercoated sheet metal version?

JoeBuell06, the '09 also came with a silver reflective blanket of some sort under the seat. I assume that's what you're referring to. I just finished the fuel pump install / clutch adjust / primary adjust / oil change on the '06, so it'll be going into storage tomorrow. When I put it in I'll see if I can pull the blanket off the '09 for pics / dimensions.

The shock cover on my '08 was broken in half when I bought the bike. PO had duct taped it - which was largely ineffective. I drilled a bunch of holes along the edges, and laced the crack like a football.

I'd guess it gets pretty toasty under the seat, even with the fan to move the engine heat aft. I would think a printed version would work okay.

Hey all. Not sure if anyone's still looking for a shock cover, but I've got one that I'm willing to part with. Bought the comfort kit for my Uly a while ago, but never got around to putting the shock cover in.

If you're interested, shoot me a PM.
