i have seen these, usually the people who get them, are not the ones who need them.

As in, slow guy on the freeway (55 in a 70) with 20 car lengths ahead of him, with his left resting on the brake pedal, just enough to activate the lights, constantly flashing them when nobody is slowing down.

Thats why I hate these things... Products like this should have some sort of accelerometer in them, to only activate when a certain g-force threshold is passed...

I have one pretty similar (IBF4) and love it. Everytime I am sitting at a light and I see a car come up behind me I grab the brake and it flashes a couple times then comes on steady. I have never been rearended so I would like to think it works.

I also have it installed in the 3rd LED brake light of my car, my ex'es car, my Uncle's bike, my cousin's bike, my brother's bike, and my previous fatboy. Passed them all out as Christmas gifts one year! Gee does it really show I am an accident investigator. LOL.

I haven't seen one in action on a bike (except on video), but I have seen them on emergency vehicles. They definitely grab your attention.

I plan to add one at some point.

I do the same thing without the flasher. When someone is approaching, I pull the front brake as fast and as many times as possible.

Excellent advice Dave if you don't have a brake light flasher! Anything you can do to be seen is good! Of course all my reflectors fell off on the way home from the dealership so I guess I have no room to talk!

What I could probably use, is a module that applies the brake lights when I'm at 0% throttle. I tend to use engine braking quite often, something cars behind me wouldn't realize. My old SV would slow down from 60 to 30 faster than some people in cars would brake.

This is another one of those MSF treasures. Give yourself enough brake distance for yourself and the guy behind you. When I'm in traffic and I'm engine braking, I usually give the rear brake a little pressure to light the lamp. Sometimes I'll just toe tap the brake, whatever it takes to alert the guy behind me that I'm slowing down.

But yeah, this thing looks to be useful. I've considered installing one on my bike.

it's easy enough for me to flick the front brake with a finger to flash my tail light if i'm afraid of the vehicles behind me.
