i have this extra stock xb9 exhaust laying in my garage. could i gut it open, take out everything and run a straight pipe from the front to the back inside the exhaust and then put packing all around the pipe to hold it still. basically take the weaving pattern from inside a xb9 pipe and make it a straight shot through the pipe and stuff it f ull of packing and seal it back up to look stock.kind of a hawk modification but only use a straight pipe inside a stock exhaust.could it be done or does it sound stupid

you tell me

just didnt know how it would sound. dunno if itll be bad or it itll be the same as straight pipes

It would be like running any other straight through Packed muffler.

Down side would be no way to repack without cutting it open.

Up side is that it looks stock so the cops most likely wont hassle you over the noise.

Could just do no packing and not have to worry about packing it. Still will muffle the sound quiet well with all that air volume.

I was thinkin of using a straight piece of steel so it's a genuine straight pipe. The packing is only to make sure the pipe inside doesnt move or anything

Here are a couple pics of what I did to mine . It was previously gutted by original owner . The main thing he did was remove the center pipe and did a pretty crappy job at it then left it with the stock look . It was loud before but even louder now :D . I also didn't notice any loss of power .

So the 2" turn downs fit over the two stock pipes but the front is open and the whole center without packing and it seems to still have back pressure because like I said before I don't notice any loss of power .

yeah thats close to what im thinking but just running a single pipe from the left pipe and straight out the back. single line straight through. should be really loud but have the stock look to the pipe. hopefully straight pipe loud
