I am looking at getting a Battery Tender and wanted to check whether I need the 6 volt or 12 volt?

Also, my battery is original on my 05 XB and I notice it is getting a little weak after a week or two of not running the bike. Will the battery tender keep an older battery like mine operating ok?

Yes as long as you leave it plugged in always. I would suggest replacing the battery. 12 volt is what you are looking for.
I wouldn't trust a 6 year old battery no further than I could throw it. Which is probably about 5 feet.

Good to know! I was afraid of that...Where do most people get their replacements from? I'd rather not get one full price from a HD stealership!

Not sure where to tell you to go for a new one. Mine requires a factory sealed battery because it lays on the side. I went to interstate battery first and they were out of stock so I just spent the extra 30.00 bucks and bought an HD one from the local dealer. Most any parts store will order it for you if they don't stock it. Any motorcycle dealer I think would do the same. You'd be surprised at what your local parts store can order for you. Best of luck [up]

I recommend a gel battery. These bikes shake alot and shorten the life of a regular lead-acid plate type. Gel is a couple more bucks but worth it in my opinion.
I run a gel in the bike and the sea-doo. Bike shakes and vibrates and the sea-doo just pounds the waves. Been good to me so far. Hope this helps.

Cool thanks guys. Never heard of a gel type, I wonder if it has any performance issues during the cold months like we have here in Colorado???
